Cigarette smoke contains more than 7,000 chemicals. Many of those chemicals are toxic and impact your heart and blood vessels.
This causes an increased risk of heart disease and stroke. Smokers are also at increased risk of cancer of the lung, mouth, nose, larynx, tongue, nasal sinus, esophagus, throat, pancreas, bone marrow (myeloid leukemia), kidney, cervix, o***y, ureter, liver, bladder, bowel and stomach..
Also, be aware of what triggers your need to smoke. Is it that after meal smoke that has become a habit? Do you associate smoking with enjoyable activities? Know your routine. Be mindful of what you are doing, when and why.
Quitting is not easy – that’s why you need to enlist as much support as you can. Counseling, prescription medication, ni****ne replacement therapy are all useful in helping you maintain motivation in this difficult change.
