Springs finally here! Are you looking to put on those running shoes but dreading the aches and pains that come with it. Did you know blood flow restriction therapy can help strengthen your muscles with less stress on our joints and ligaments. This allows you to prepare your body for the impact and stress during running and other activities. Normally to achieve strength improvements we need to train at >70% 1RM which can be difficult when we already have aches and pains. BFR allows for the same results at 30% 1RM. Studies have shown a significant decrease in knee and hip pain when training with BFR. As PTs we can include this in you comprehensive treatment which will include strengthening/ stretching exercise and hands on manual techniques to get you ready for those sunny weather activities!
