Dolores C. Kuhn

Dolores Celeste Kuhn passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, in South Lyon, MI, at the age of 92.Born on April 23, 1933, in Roseville, MI, born to John and Mary Pomante, Dolores grew up in a home that shaped everything about who she became. Raised by her devoted mother, Mary, alongside her brothers Sal, Johnny, Ben, Gene, Dick, and Joe, and her sisters Teresa, Rita, Elizabeth, Yolanda, and Ann Marie, she learned early that family was something you protected, leaned on, and loved fiercely. She spoke often and fondly of her mom and her siblings, sharing stories and memories so frequently that those who loved Dolores felt like they knew that earlier part of her life, too.Her Catholic faith was at the center of her world. It was not just something she practiced on Sundays, but a daily anchor. Even when she couldn’t do as much outwardly, she could always pray, and she did. Her rosary was never far from reach, and her prayers—often quiet and unseen—covered her family through every season. In joy and in sorrow, she turned to her faith first, and in doing so, she showed those around her what trust in God could look like.Dolores married her high school sweetheart, Thomas J. Kuhn, and together they raised four children: Karen, Kevin, Keith, and Kristine. Her focus was on her children and, later, on the generations that followed. Her home was usually quiet, and she found steadiness in familiar routines and simple days.Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her son, Kevin; and her daughter-in-law, Joyce. She is survived by her daughter Karen and son-in-law David, and their daughters Michelle (Patrick), Erin (Russ), and Kathryn (Steve); her son Keith and daughter-in-law Chris, and their children Jonathan (Jenna) and Amanda (Sameer); her daughter Kristine and son-in-law Ken, and their son Austin; and, through Kevin and Joyce, her daughters Jennifer (Tim) and Michelle. Dolores was also blessed with great-grandchildren—Kaelyn, Abby, Zack, and Ishaan—whose lives and milestones she followed with pride and interest.May she rest in peace, held in the love and prayers she so often offered to others. In accordance with Dolores’s wishes, there will be no public funeral. A private service will be attended by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.To honor Dolores’s memory, the family invites memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Dorothy MacTavish, Nov. 7, 1921 – Nov. 12, 2025

Dorothy Jeanette MacTavish, age 104, passed away peacefully and went home to the Lord on November 11, 2025. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed.

Born on November 7, 1921, in Houtzdale, PA, Dorothy was the only child of Hilma and Swan Swanson. She grew up in the small coal mining town, spending joyful days with cousins and friends, and especially loved visiting the Sherkel Theatre. After graduating from the Altoona School of Business, she returned to Houtzdale to work as a payroll clerk at Gulbranson Coal Mines.

In 1947, Dorothy married her beloved husband, William MacTavish. The couple moved to Detroit and settled in Allen Park in 1952, where Dorothy became a longtime member of Mt. Hope Lutheran Church.

Dorothy devoted her life to her family, creating a warm and welcoming home where she and Bill raised four sons. She found joy tending her flower gardens, watching birds and butterflies from her porch, playing pinochle with loved ones, and making frequent visits back to Houtzdale to reconnect with family and friends. A gifted quilter, Dorothy crafted many beautiful pieces that will continue to comfort and inspire those she loved.

Her relationship with Bill was truly special. Known affectionately as “Bill and Dot,” they shared 55 wonderful years together. After Bill’s passing in 2003, Dorothy lovingly preserved the letters he wrote to her during his WWII service, reading them often and keeping his memory close to her heart.

All who new Dorothy will remember her as a genuinely kind and gracious soul, always greeting others with a bright smile, twinkle in her eye, and warm embrace.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband William, her grandson Douglass Roy MacTavish, and great-grandson William Jacob MacTavish. She is survived by her sons William (Mary Kay), Kevin (Charlotte), Jeffrey, and David (Audrey), 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Tributes in Dorothy’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.ALZ.org.

A visitation will be held at Weise Funeral Home, 7210 Park, Allen Park on Tuesday, November 18, from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m.
