Hi everyone,
This is a message from the NAHN National Bylaws Committee.

02/02/2026

📜 Today we recognize history, culture, and community across Michigan.

A Certificate of Proclamation from Governor Gretchen Whitmer officially declares February 2, 2026 as Mexican American Heritage Day in Michigan.

This proclamation invites everyone in our state to learn more about the lasting contributions people of Mexican descent have made to the history of Michigan and our nation.

Let’s take this day to reflect, learn, and celebrate the cultural richness that strengthens our communities. 🙌🏽

What nurse and NAHN member do you know who has developed a creative and innovative program, intervention, or strategy to increase the number of Hispanic nurses, improve the quality of health care in the Hispanic community, or develop NAHN at the local, state, or national level?

Nominate them for the NAHN Nurse of the Year Award by February 14 at nahnnet.org/awards! Two letters of reference and a candidate CV required. Nominees may be self-nominated or recommended by colleagues, clients, administrators, or co-workers.

Nurses’ call to action!

Nurses, nursing leaders, and allies call for immediate reforms to protect the public from the harm to health, education, and social wellbeing caused by current federal immigration enforcement practices, as seen recently in the senseless killing of Minneapolis nurse Alex Pretti.
