Looking at this photo, you might think you’re just seeing a sweet moment from a baby shower — but it’s so much more.

Our parents, Jasmine and Joshua, were unexpectedly admitted to the hospital when Jasmine’s water broke prematurely. With mom and baby stable, she was admitted for antepartum monitoring in collaboration with our midwives and team at Texas Health Allen.

Navigating an unexpected hospital stay while still preparing for baby Jax was overwhelming. Then one evening, the nurses reached out to our midwives with a heartfelt idea: could we help coordinate a baby shower right there in the hospital?

What began as a small family gathering that was supposed to happen in the lobby transformed into a beautiful, joy-filled celebration that allowed Jasmine and Joshua to experience a sense of normalcy while staying just steps away from the care they needed.

We are profoundly grateful for the initiative and compassion of the nurses at Texas Health Allen and for the collaborative spirit they share with our midwifery team. Moments like these remind us how powerful compassionate, patient-centered care can be.

Our AMFW parents had the cool idea to honor their baby’s placenta with a Tree of Life print, with the help of nurse Megan who tried her best to bring their vision to life. In the process, we discovered her new hidden talent! We loved the way this placenta print turned out. The vessels are seen so beautifully here, and are a reminder of the incredible design that nourished and connected mother and baby throughout pregnancy.
