📆 Q4 2023 NCCI Update! 🏥

Minimal changes to Medicare NCCI codes this Oct 1. Just 3 edits for practitioners & hospitals, but it's crucial if your practitioners provide these services.

For Code Pair 31241 & 30802:
"Misuse of column two code with column one code."
Change: A modifier can now override this edit when necessary.

For Code Pairs 49614, 49615, & 49622:
Shifted from "mutually exclusive procedures" to "Misuse of column two code with column one code."

Changes to CPT Category III Codes

Per AMA, the CPT® Category III code set will be expanded beginning January 1, 2024.

Among the modifications are:
- New code addition (0911T - 0815T, 0820T - 0858T, 0864T - 0866T).
- Existing code revision (0517T - 0520T).
- Guidelines.
- Parenthetical notes for various new technologies (0911T - 0815T, 0820T - 0858T, 0864T - 0866T).

Please note that payers may not accept these temporary codes for emerging technologies.

Clarifications for E/M Services:

Clarifications in CPT 2024 include the removal of time ranges from certain office or other outpatient visit codes and alignment with other E/M codes.
Includes definitions for determining substantive portion of a split/shared E/M visit.
Added instructions for reporting hospital inpatient or observation care services and admission and discharge services when a patient's stay crosses over two calendar dates using specific codes (99234-99236).

AMA Adds 5 New RSV Immunization Codes to the CPT List

The CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) has introduced five new product-specific codes for reporting Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) immunizations.

The 5 new codes are:
90380
90381
90683
90679
90678

By introducing these codes, the tracking, reporting, and analysis of RSV immunizations will be notably enhanced. This means clearer data, more efficient billing, and improved medical documentation.

COVID Vaccine coding changes from Nov 1.

50+ codes have been consolidated to streamline the reporting of COVID-19 immunizations in the CPT code set.

Provisional codes (91318-91322) have been introduced to identify monovalent vaccine products from Moderna and Pfizer for COVID-19 immunization.

A new vaccine administration code (90480) has been approved for reporting the administration of any COVID-19 vaccine for any patient, replacing product-specific codes.
