We recently received a generous donation from a very dear friend of Our Cottage who has experienced a recent, profound loss of their own. As a team, we spent time thinking about how best to use this gift — and we knew it wasn’t meant for things, but for memories.

Over the next couple of days, we’ll be gathering our Residents, their families and Our Cottage staff members, for a Christmas lunch, with a professional photographer joining us to capture moments of love, connection, care, and joy.
Seeing the anticipation and excitement in some of our Residents as they get ready for this has truly warmed my heart.
This is what Our Cottage is about.

To everyone who joined us, celebrated, networked, donated, and contributed — THANK YOU!

This Christmas season, Our Cottage, TORCH, Legacy at Home and TexasREIA joined forces to host a two separate Christmas celebration events giving hope and encouragement through the Carson Leslie Foundation to children and teenagers battling brain cancer.

All of the hoodies, cozy blankets, cool hats, and toys will mean so much to these children and teens — offering comfort, warmth, and a reminder that they are not alone. ❤️

Thank you for showing up, giving generously, and being part of something bigger than ourselves.
Together, we make hope feel a little closer.

Exciting News for Our Cottage!

We are proud to share that Yulia Burt, owner and operator of Our Cottage, has been appointed as the President of the North Texas Chapter of TORCH — the Texas Organization of Residential Care Homes.

In this role, Yulia will help elevate the voice of small and mid-sized care home operators across our region, advocate for higher standards of care, and strengthen collaboration within the senior-care community.

Her passion for high-quality, family-centered care drives everything we do at Our Cottage, and now she will bring that same commitment to supporting care homes throughout North Texas.

What a wonderful afternoon at the Allen Senior Center!

Today we hosted a small info session and a fun gift card raffle, and we want to congratulate all of our winners!

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of hearing Clifton Coufal from Clifton Coufal Law Firm speak about VA benefits for seniors. He shed light on resources many families don’t even know exist. From Aid and Attendance to VA Home Care and Disability, Clifton’s firm helps veterans and their families navigate what can feel like an overwhelming process.

If you support a veteran or work with seniors, this information is invaluable. We’re grateful for the expertise Clifton and his team provides and the impact he makes in helping families access the benefits they deserve.

Our Cottage was proud to host and sponsor last night’s TORCH Members Christmas Event!

What an inspiring evening surrounded by so many incredible senior care homes operators — from seasoned leaders to those who are just beginning their journey in this beautiful industry.

We had the opportunity to meet dedicated owners, caregivers, administrators, and aspiring operators who share the same passion we do: creating warm, high-quality, home-like care for seniors who need support.

The night was filled with meaningful conversations, shared stories, lessons learned, and honest discussions about the challenges we all face. We learned so much from others, and we were equally grateful for the chance to share our own experiences and insights.
