EVERYONE DESERVES SUPPORT ✨️

Moms never stop needing support.

When she first has her baby, the support floods in from everywhere.

But then, after that first few weeks, everyone seems to disappear.

The texts checking in
stop.

The offers to babysit so she can take a nap
disappear.

But mommy never stops needing support.

She needs someone to call when she’s on the bathroom floor, face streaked with tears.

She needs someone she can vent to after she deals with an epic tantrum in the grocery store and someone criticizes her parenting.

Not just the beginning, but moms need someone to place them gently back on their feet through all phases of motherhood.
To calm their fears.
To tell them they’re doing a good job.

Because the reality is,
motherhood gets harder and harder.

And she can use someone to hold her hand and tell her they’ve been there and know how frustrating it is to fold laundry and cook dinner when she’s sick,
or to receive a hard diagnosis,
or how difficult the first-time separating is.

And she doesn’t need anyone to step in and do it for her,
she just needs the emotional support.

All moms do.

Because mothers who do that for everyone else deserve to be comforted, too.

So don’t forget to check on her,
Moms never stop needing support.

💡 of ... Peripartum cardiomyopathy 💡 (requested by one of our lovely followers)

❤️ Peripartum cardiomyopathy is an uncommon, yet potentially life-threatening pregnancy-associated disease that typically arises during the last month of pregnancy or up to five months after giving birth.

❤️ With peripartum cardiomyopathy, the heart chambers enlarge and the muscle weakens, causing a decrease in the percentage of blood ejected from the left ventricle of the heart with each contraction.

❤️ This leads to less blood flow and the heart is no longer able to meet the demands of the body's organs for oxygen, affecting the lungs, liver, and other body systems.

❤️ Management of peripartum cardiomyopathy is similar to that used to manage heart failure.

goooood morning friends 💖

I'm here to give a mini update on these last few weeks!
first, and foremost, THE LOVE. y'all really rock with me, huh? i feel it!
thank you to all who have donated, shared, and told someone about me!

so far, as a community, we have raised $375 which is over 25% of my goal. i'm overjoyed.

as more inquiries come in about what i do and offer, people are wanting me to be apart of their journeys [praise break 🥳🥳🥳]

however, the financial barrier is preventing them from moving forward with sealing the deal.

i became a doula for my community because i see the need. it is a dire need for support, education and advocacy in this realm.

so here i am, asking yall for help! the more we raise, the more of myself i can give to my clients to help fulfill their birth goals.

Please stop saying “at least it was only early”

Please stop saying “it wasn’t the right time”

Please stop saying “you can always try again”

Please stop saying “everything happens for a reason”

Please stop saying “at least you weren’t THAT pregnant”

Please stop saying “you are so young you can just try again”

Words hurt.

Whether you lost your baby at 8 weeks.
Whether you lost your baby at 12 weeks.
Whether you lost your baby at 16 weeks.
Whether you lost your baby at 20+ weeks.

Your pregnancy loss matters.
Your tears matter.
You matter.

making it to my 29th trip around the sun has truly made my heart burst. if I were honest, which I always am, I didn't see what people say they always saw in me.

in 2021, I promised myself to have a year of yes. which in turn, had me doing all kinds of work to heal the Lexis in these photos. she was always a light. & I truly believe that now; I am a light and now I'm going to share it with people who don't see their light either.

sometimes, I wake up with the most random topics on my mind. today's was "how can I involve my community more?"

being able to afford a doula has been a hot topic in some groups that I'm in. I'm wondering how interested yall are in helping people afford these services in our community 🤔

so I'm thinking about having an option to fundraise for doula expenses as a payment method. might have to be an early option depending on the giving spirit 😅 but I'd love to involve my community in helping the rest of its members!

thoughts on crowd-funding? anyone with experience with these sites that are available? gofundme? etc...

open to any and all suggestions or personal experiences with community-based work!

IT'S GRADUATION DAY ✨️

2021 was a whirlwind for me. since January, I've been having the looming fact of it being 10 years since I've graduated high school. I got hella nostalgic in June and tried to find graduation photos from my time 🥺 it took deep self-reflection to realize that I was looking for something that never happened 🥴

first of all, 2011 Lexis would have never stepped foot in front of a camera unless there were others with her to take attention away. I love taking photos of others. I do not like being the subject. while taking my advocacy training, I was challenged to ask myself the why to my actions. WHY don't I like to be seen? it was a struggle. it made me realize I don't like attention on myself at all. never felt worthy of the attention people gave me. finding my worth and staying true to myself has been the goal all year. so instead of mourning my past self, I honor her. today and forever.

in this new path, I want to encourage everyone to feel as worthy as I have grown to feel. I want to empower all to be seen and heard and to take up space 💖 it isn't easy and toxic positivity isn't helpful 🥴 we are in this together.
