We’re proud to celebrate Dr. John Hauth, St. Luke’s Senior Network Administrator, as he’s recognized by the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers’ Society for his leadership and lasting impact on the athletic training profession.
From serving as the 11th PATS President (1994–1996) to helping advance licensure for athletic trainers in Pennsylvania, Dr. Hauth’s contributions have shaped the profession for decades.

- Celebrating John Hauth
John M. Hauth, Ed.D., LAT, ATC, served as the 11th President of the PATS from 1994 to 1996. His presidency and subsequent career are defined by a deep commitment to athletic training education and critical legislative advocacy in Pennsylvania.
Key Achievements and Leadership
Legislative Advocacy: Dr. Hauth provided essential testimony before the Pennsylvania Legislature regarding professional licensure for athletic trainers. He was instrumental in the passage of Bills 371 & 372, which advanced the legal recognition and regulation of the profession in the Commonwealth.
Educational Leadership: A lifelong educator, he directed the Athletic Training Program at East Stroudsburg University (ESU) for 14 years (2000–2014) and served as Chairperson. He also served on the NATA Executive Committee on Education and chaired national athletic training educator conferences.
Regional and National Service: Following his PATS presidency, he served as the EATA President, and represented Pennsylvania as the state's representative to both the EATA and the NATA.
Honors and Legacy
Hall of Fame: He was inducted into the PATS Hall of Fame in the Class of 2009.
Distinguished Professor Award: In 2010, ESU awarded him its highest faculty honor for his significant contributions to teaching and scholarship.
NATA Recognition: He was honored by the NATA as a "Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer" in 2010.
