Although one is an MRI and one is an xray, you can clearly see the position of L5 where the arrow is pointing. A disc herniation will cause a retrolisthesis of one vertebrae on the other involved which means it has slipped back.

When we adjust these segments we do so in a posterior to anterior thrust trying to also manipulate the disc in a way in which we relieve pressure off of the nerve root or in this case the thecal sac where the cord is incased.

We can’t directly manipulate the disc. We manipulate the segment as one motion segment (body and disc). It is then up to how the patient’s body responds which could be 2–3 visits, could be 6–8 etc.

In the process, we are training and creating a more healthy joint that can withstand stress through proper biomechanics as well as decrease accelerating degeneration.
