What you see here: an almost 2½ year old smiling and eating a raw pepper. 🌶️

What you don’t see:

7+ introductions before this moment.
Peppers thrown across the room.
“Yucky!” (even after asking for it).
A full meltdown because the pepper was touching the rest of the food.
A separate plate request.

Instagram shows the highlight — not the process.

The truth? It can take 10–12 exposures for a child to decide if they like a food. As an RDN, this is something I talk about daily. Forcing bites doesn’t build confident eaters. Pressure often backfires. What does work? Regular exposure. Low pressure. Different approaches. Patience. Modeling. Maybe even a photo shoot 🤣.

And yes — there are times when additional support beyond general nutrition strategies is needed. But for many families, picky eating is a normal developmental phase, not a parenting failure.

If you’re in the “everything is yucky” stage right now, you are not alone — and you are not doing it wrong.

If you’re struggling with picky eating in your home, you don’t have to navigate it by yourself. Consider working with a pediatric dietitian — most insurance plans cover nutrition counseling.

Support makes the process lighter. 💛

Flowers don’t bloom year round — so why do we expect ourselves to? 🌸❄️

Winter is a season for rest, reflection, and quiet growth. Just because you can’t see the progress doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Roots grow deeper in the dark. Strength builds beneath the surface.

Honor the slower pace. Nourish your body. Be gentle with yourself.

In honor of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, let this be your reminder: your worth is not measured by productivity, appearance, or perfection. Healing happens in seasons, too. 💙

You’re not meant to be in full bloom every day — you’re meant to grow in seasons. 🌿✨

If you feel you're struggling, don't forget to reach out and make an appointment with our Registered Dietitians. Let us help you help yourself! You don't have to do it alone. ❤️

I took this picture at farm back in 2021 📸 and they are still my favorite flower!

Another trick for tight necks! Today we'll take aim at the suboccipital muscles.

1) Lie on your back on a comfortable, firm surface
2) Make a fist with your hand and place your knuckles up against the base of your skull (there's a small group of often overworked muscles in this area)
3) Let your head fully rest so that your knuckles press into the muscles behind your head
4) Hold this position for 3-5 minutes to give the muscles time to yield to the pressure you're applying

This deep massage feels great on the neck, and doesn't require any equipment. If the shoulder position feels fine for you, it's an easy self massage to bust out on a busy work week. 💪🏻

Do you ever wake up with a nagging twinge in your neck?

Of course you have! Your rib cage reaches all the way up to the level of your collarbone and sometimes the highest rib (the First Rib) gets jammed up too high and causes pain. Try this to settle it down:

1) Use a belt or strap and hold it down over the side that has the kink.
2) Press down with your hands to depress the rib and tilt your head to the opposite side
3) Take three FULL, DEEP breaths. On each exhale, try to press down further with your hands.
