We love Child's Pose!

Everyone knows this stretch, but what exactly makes it so amazing!

Child's Pose provides a gentle, but variable stretch for multiple joints including the hips, thighs, shoulders, and most notably the SPINE. It is one of the easiest ways to provide a traction (lengthening) stretch without the need for any special equipment. Try mixing up the angle if you feel like you're tighter on one side.

Struggling with neck pain, poor posture, or that “unstable” feeling in your cervical spine? 👀
Chin tucks are one of the most effective exercises to restore proper cervical alignment, improve deep neck flexor strength, and reduce cervical dysfunction and instability.

But not all chin tucks are created equal ⬇️

🔹 Basic chin tuck – Activates deep neck stabilizers
🔹 Chin tuck + head lift – Builds endurance and strength
🔹 Chin tuck + cervical rotation – Adds control through movement
🔹 Prone chin tucks – Challenges posterior chain and postural support
🔹 Standing chin tucks with upper-body movements – Integrates real-life posture and functional stability

Progressing exercises the right way helps retrain your neck to stay supported during daily activities — not just on the treatment table.

⚠️ Always consult with a licensed physical therapist to ensure these progressions are appropriate for you.

Your posture isn’t just about looks — it’s about spinal health. 💪

Back pain? Try out this position to decompress!

Lie on your back (no pillows, or as few as possible)
Legs up! Resting on a surface at 90 degrees
Arms out at 45 degrees with palms up
Phone OFF
Relax! 10-20 minutes. 😴😴😴

This position helps unload your spine and rest in a position of slight traction. Perfect after a long work day or when taking down those Christmas decorations.

Exercise looks different as a mom — and that’s more than okay. 💛

Some days it’s a full workout, some days it's 5:30 am wake ups for strength and agility training, some days it’s a walk, stretching between meetings, some days it's running outside with my little man, or simply choosing to move your body with intention.

As a registered dietitian (and a mom), I’m proud to say I truly practice what I preach. Health isn’t about perfection — it’s about meeting yourself where you are. That’s exactly why I’m so excited to share something we created to support our community in a realistic, sustainable way.
This January, we’re helping you stay accountable to movement, fitness, nutrition, and overall health — without the pressure — by launching our 2026 Body Composition Challenge 🎉

✨ Open to everyone
✨ Virtual or in-person
✨ New and past patients welcome

If you’re ready to focus on progress, not perfection, we’d love to have you join us.

📧 Sign up by emailing mwroblewski@carusoptrd.com

Let’s do this together — one choice, one habit, one step at a time. 💪💫

As a reminder, most insurances cover nutritional counseling & it is the benefit new year! That means if you used your visits last year, YOU NOW HAVE VISITS AVAILABLE TO YOU!

You're paying for your insurance, so that means you're already paying for nutritional counseling services!

We thrive off of watching our community's health THRIVE.

✨ New Year’s Resolutions — A Dietitian’s Take ✨

This Monday, I’m not against New Year’s resolutions.
I support them. 🤍

Because it doesn’t matter when you start.
What matters is that you do.

Choosing self-care, nourishment, and health—at any point—is brave. And before we judge someone for “starting again,” let’s remember:
👉 We don’t know what they’ve been through.
👉 We don’t know what it took for them to begin.

As a dietitian, I believe progress isn’t about perfection or timing—it’s about compassion, consistency, and showing up for yourself when you can. 🌱

So instead of criticism, let’s offer support.
Instead of pressure, let’s offer grace.

💬 If this message resonates, share this post to support those taking the leap toward self-care.
💾 Save this as a reminder: your journey is valid—no matter the start date.

💪 Your CORE is more than just abs — it’s the foundation of how you move, lift, balance, and live.

A strong core supports your spine, improves posture, enhances athletic performance, and helps protect you from injury in everyday life. Whether you’re chasing kids, working out, or just getting through a long workday, your core is always working.

At Caruso Physical Therapy & Nutrition, we focus on building functional core strength that translates to real-life movement. Some of our go-to core exercises include:
✔️ Planks
✔️ Modified bugs
✔️ Dead bugs
✔️ Standing physioball press downs

These exercises challenge stability, control, and coordination — not just strength — which is why they’re so effective when done correctly.

⚠️ Disclaimer: Always check with your physical therapist before attempting any new exercises to make sure they’re appropriate for your body, injury history, and goals.

Strong core. Better movement. Better life. 🧠➡️🏃‍♂️
