Fun Fact Friday:

Every LCCO&FC vehicle is equipped with a wireless-connected iPad. This allows Investigators to enter encrypted case information into the case management system in real time while on scene. Office-based Investigators can also add to the record, supporting the scene Investigator as the case unfolds.

The advantage? Information is captured efficiently, accurately, and instantly—ultimately benefiting the families of the decedent by providing timely updates, critical medical background, and most importantly, closure.

We at the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensic Center are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic events in York County today. Three law enforcement officers lost their lives, and two others were injured. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the officers’ families, loved ones, colleagues, and the entire York County community during this incredibly difficult time.

We honor their service, courage, and sacrifice, and we stand in solidarity with our law enforcement partners as they grieve this profound loss. May their memory be a source of strength, and may their dedication to protecting others never be forgotten.

We’re Hiring – for a Full Time Deputy Coroner/Investigator 🚨

The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Deputy Coroner/Investigator. Our office operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and is housed in a state-of-the-art forensic center.

This is a unique opportunity to serve your community in a critical role—investigating deaths, working with law enforcement and medical professionals, and ensuring dignity and respect for the deceased and their families.

You must have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in challenging situations with professionalism, integrity, and compassion.

Schedule: Upon completion of training, this position will follow a 2:00 PM – 12:00 AM shift with a 4-day weekend every other week.

The schedule for this position may be adjusted, with notice, to meet the needs of our 24/7 operations.

Prior medical, investigative, law enforcement is preferred

This position is classified as Essential.

They Were Not Alone

Today, the LCCO&FC held the interment of eight unclaimed cremated remains. None of us at the LCCO&FC could have imagined such an incredible turnout. Nearly 80 people came together to honor eight individuals who had no one of their own.

A local bagpiper arrived and offered his services, flowers were donated, prayers were shared, and for a brief moment, our community stood united in remembrance of people we never met.

On behalf of the entire staff of the LCCO&FC, we extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who attended and helped make this possible. We are truly humbled by the outpouring of support.

Most importantly, the final disposition of these eight individuals was carried out with dignity, care, and compassion—the way every life deserves to be honored.

The LCCO&FC will be holding a burial service for unclaimed cremated remains on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Cedar Heights Cemetery.

This ceremony ensures that those without family or friends to claim them are laid to rest with dignity and respect. Coroner Buglio welcomes members of the public to attend and pay their respects.

For the third year in a row, the LCCO&FC is putting forward a resolution to the Lehigh County Board of Commissioners to recognize September as Su***de Awareness and Prevention Month in Lehigh County. This resolution is an important step in showing our community’s support for su***de awareness, prevention efforts, and honoring those we’ve lost.

So far this year, the LCCO&FC has investigated 42 su***des—and that is 42 too many. Raising awareness, spreading the message that there is help and hope, and supporting prevention efforts are all part of our commitment to this cause and our commitment to the community.

We wrapped up a 3-day holiday weekend with beautiful weather—and I’m happy to say there is nothing on the schedule for this room today. I’d call that a success!
