FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

On Thursday, June 2nd, 2022, at approximately 2020 hours, Officers from the Allentown Police Department were dispatched to the area of North Fourth & West Turner Streets for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers rendered aid on scene to the victims. The victims were transported to a local hospital by Allentown EMS. The victims are expected to survive their injuries. This investigation is active and ongoing and there is no immediate threat or danger to the public at this time.

​The Allentown Police Department is asking anyone with information to call Detectives at 610-437-7721 or the Police Desk at 610-437-7753 (ext 1). Additionally, anonymous text tips can be sent via the Tip411 App available on the Allentown Police page

The City will be hosting a job fair Wednesday, April 13 from 1-7 p.m. at the Cumberland Gardens Gymnasium located at 501 East Susquehanna Street in Allentown.

Job seekers will have the opportunity to chat with members from our City departments looking to fill permanent and seasonal positions.

Our student government board and we want to thank everyone for their support of the fundraiser we held last week. A $2,000 donation was made to https://www.unicef.org to support the children of Ukraine on behalf of EEACS.

COULD YOU USE $15,000?!

The Lehigh County COVID-19 Relief Small Business Grant Program has re-opened and is now accepting applications! Lehigh County Commissioners have approved this Grant Program partnered with the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce that will distribute ARP Funds to Lehigh County small businesses with 100 or fewer employees.

This grant is eligible to businesses that have not already received funding through Lehigh County under the American Rescue Plan Act in 2021. Businesses that have not received a grant through Northampton County or received a grant in 2020 under the Cares Act through Lehigh County are eligible to apply.

Please note: Businesses must have been in operation for one full year prior to application submission. However, businesses that opened after that date will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the committee.

The Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21
will be holding their first virtual T-CAT meeting along with the next Council meeting on February 17th from 10-12.

They are in search of families, graduated students, agencies and employers who service or have been through the Allentown School district. They will have an interpreter available and the second flyer is in Spanish that is attached. They are working with a grant to improve transition outcomes and need to hear from anyone who can help.
