Have you ever noticed a small lump on your wrist that seems to appear out of nowhere?

It may be a ganglion cyst - a fluid-filled lump that commonly forms near the tendons or joints in the wrist or hand. These cysts are noncancerous, but they can sometimes cause discomfort, limit movement, or press on nearby nerves.

Some ganglion cysts shrink or disappear on their own, but if yours is painful or interfering with daily activities, treatment options are available.

If your fingertip is drooping and you can’t straighten it, it may not be “just” a jam.

Mallet finger is an injury to the tendon that straightens the tip of your finger. It often happens when an object strikes the fingertip or when the joint is forcefully bent while lifting.

Common signs include inability to straighten the fingertip, redness, swelling, tenderness.

Ignoring it can lead to permanent deformity if not treated early.

🌟Physical therapy Patient of the Month🌟
Meet Bradley, our February Patient of the Month!!

Brad came to OAA Physical Therapy after having shoulder surgery with one of our OAA surgeons this summer. 🩺🩻 Recently, he has been back to see our PT, Joel Ninos, for some brief rehabbing as his wrestling season comes to an end.💪

Brad’s biggest goal is to get back into the gym so he can prepare for the high level of competition he sees as a wrestler. 🏋️🤼 He is an extremely talented athlete and is ranked #5 in the nation amongst all Prep School National wrestlers, as a freshman! ⭐💪🤼

The most enjoyable part of coming to therapy for Brad was working with Joel towards feeling better and getting relief! Some of the things that helped him the most during his recovery were stretching, bands, and massages! ⭐

After PT, Brad is looking forward to getting back in the gym and wrestling at a very competitive level! We at OAA are very excited to see where wrestling will take him! 😀⭐

One of our Pain Management patients brought some wise words for PA-C Pooja and Clinical Coordinator Shakira,: “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!”🐘🩵

This is an inspirational motto our patient has used when going through care with numerous physicians and advanced practitioners. She now makes special elephant cookies for her care providers, both as a way to say thank you and to inspire! 🍪🐘

We all our patients and friends can stay warm and safe this weekend with the potential snow storm!! 🌨️❄️🩵

Raynaud’s disease causes the small blood vessels in your fingers and toes to temporarily tighten, limiting blood flow. During an episode, you may notice:
-Fingers turning white, blue, or red
-Numbness or tingling
-Cold, painful sensations

These episodes often last about 15 minutes and are commonly triggered by cold temperatures or emotional stress.

While mild cases can be managed with lifestyle adjustments, frequent or severe symptoms shouldn’t be ignored. A proper evaluation can help determine the best treatment plan and rule out underlying conditions.
