Hitting the slopes this winter? ⛷ One of the most common hand injuries we see is Skier’s Thumb—a tear of the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) at the base of the thumb. It often occurs when a skier falls while holding a ski pole, forcing the thumb away from the hand.

⚠️ Symptoms may include pain, swelling, bruising, weakness, and difficulty gripping.

Early evaluation is important. While mild injuries may be treated with immobilization, complete ligament tears often require surgery for proper healing.

Meet Logan Dougherty, our December Patient of the Month!!

Logan came to OAA Physical Therapy after having surgery with one of our Orthopedic Surgeons! 🥼🩺🩻🧑‍⚕️

Logan’s biggest goal is to get back to playing college volleyball as an athlete for Kings College! 🦁⭐🏐

The most enjoyable part of coming to therapy for Logan was getting to work with our therapists, Erik and Kasey! 😀 He really appreciated how they would push him to be his best at every session! 💪⭐ Thank you, Logan, for appreciating the time you spent with our therapists! 🩵

After PT, Logan is looking forward to getting back to playing volleyball at full strength and we at OAA cannot wait to see him do that! ⭐🏐
