Alliance Family Health Center has received three American Heart Association outpatient program achievement awards in recognition for its commitment to reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke by improving high cholesterol, Type 2 diabetes and blood pressure management. The awards recognize a commitment to following the latest evidence- and science-based care guidelines.

Nearly half of all adults in the U.S. have some form of cardiovascular disease, including heart attack, stroke or heart failure. High cholesterol, Type 2 diabetes and uncontrolled high blood pressure are leading risk factors for cardiovascular disease, but with timely diagnosis, research-based treatment and education, these conditions can be managed.

This year, Alliance Family Health Center received these achievement awards:
• The American Heart Association’s Check. Change. Control. Cholesterol™ Gold
• The American Heart Association’s Target: Type 2 Diabetes℠ Gold
• Target: BP™ Gold+ recognition jointly presented by the American Heart Association and the American Medical Association.

We have started an addiction recovery support group that meets Wednesday night at 7pm here at the church.

If you are dealing with an addiction or struggle of any kind come join us. We meet in the young adult room in the basement. Come in the back door closest to the blue dumpster, go down the stairs and turn left - we will be in the 2nd door on the left.

Last week AFHC staff were honored to attend and participate in the Stark County Health Improvement Summit at Kent State University - Stark Conference Center.

The event was an incredible day of collaboration, learning, and action as community leaders, healthcare professionals, and residents came together to address the most pressing health challenges in our region.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s Summit and a HUGE Congrats to the dedicated members of the Summit planning committee for a job well done! AFHC proudly has two colleagues working year-round supporting the work and preparation for the annual summit, so a special thanks and KUDOS to AFHC's own, Ashley Tucker and Amanda Nelson! 🎉 A highlight of the day for our team featured Ashley and Amanda's presentation about their committee work supporting universal release forms for further collaboration between mental health and physical health providers in Stark County.

Additionally, this year's panel featured the CEO's from the three main Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC's) serving Stark County and a discussion entitled, "From Insights to Action: Leveraging Needs Assessments & Data to Transform Patient Care.
