Believe it or not, most people dread this time of year. Yes, the holidays are supposed to be filled with fun and joy, but many struggle with their mental health.

In fact, 60% of people say the holidays actually hurt their mental wellbeing, and 64% of people with mental illness say the holiday season actually makes things worse.

So, how can you address the holiday anxiety? Here are two strategies that can help you right now:

Use grounding techniques to keep yourself in the present moment and ward off anxiety.
Have a safe word so your partner or a family member knows when you need a break.

Have you met Tomi, our tireless founder and CEO?

Her therapy journey began soon after the complicated birth of her daughter. That difficult delivery left Tomi in the hospital for weeks, and it made her realize how few mental health resources are truly available to the public.

Tomi soon turned her personal trauma into the MAYA Organization, a nonprofit that supports pregnant low-income women, and My Wellness Center, a celebrated therapy clinic in Allison Park.

A dedicated mom and professional, it’s tough to slow Tomi down. She recently launched My Wellness Retreats to provide CEU resources for busy, overworked therapists around the country!
