✨ May the 4th Be With You! ✨

In 1977 the first Star Wars film was released - Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Today, May 4th, is a day to celebrate Star Wars and we weren't going to miss out!

Residents gathered in the chapel to enjoy the three original Star Wars films on the big screen, complete with drinks and snacks for a true movie‑theater experience. 🍿🥤

For those who preferred to relax in their own space, the films were made available to watch on residents’ TVs. Everyone could join the fun from the comfort of their room.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special day. Whether you watched with friends in the chapel or from your room, we’re so glad you were part of the celebration. ⭐

🍿🎥A Light on the Lakes 🎥🍿

We recently had the honor of hosting a very special event for our residents—a private showing of the documentary A Light on the Lakes, produced by our very own Director of Marketing Benjamin Tigner!

A Light on the Lakes commemorates the 200th anniversary of Michigan Freemasonry and highlights the significant role the fraternity has played in the development of our state. The film features Masonic Pathways, recognizing its place in Masonic history and its commitment to the philanthropic values of Freemasonry. Our residents were proud to be the very first audience to ever view the documentary!

Additional public showings are coming soon, and the film will later be available to watch online from the comfort of home. We can’t wait for the wider community to experience it.

🍰💐 A Lovely Lady’s Tea 💐🍰

We had such a wonderful time at our Lady’s Tea, put on by the lovely folks at The Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation! The ladies looked beautiful in their gowns, hats, and fascinators as they enjoyed live music, tea, and sweet treats. It was especially nice to welcome friends from Arbor Grove Assisted Living to join our residents for an afternoon of good conversation, laughter, and connection.

Last week, we enjoyed hosting a Vets Café for our residents, put on by AdvisaCare Home Care. Veterans came together over coffee and donuts to relax, chat, and connect. We were grateful for the chance to spend time together and thank our veterans!

We’re thrilled to share that one of our incredible team members, Tammy Terrell, was honored at last week’s Athena Awards - an honor that celebrates leadership, impact, and the advancement of others. This award is a powerful testament of her dedication, professionalism, and the positive influence she brings to both our organization and the broader community.

We were honored to celebrate alongside inspiring leaders, including the founder of Athena, Martina Mertz, and the 2025 award recipient, Stephany Slaughter. We couldn’t be more proud of her achievement and are so grateful to have her leadership and passion on our team. Congratulations Tammy on this outstanding honor!

♠️♥️ Euchre Night Fun! ♦️♣️
Last Friday, a few of our residents gathered for a fun afternoon of friendly competition at our Euchre tournament, filled with laughter, concentration, and great conversation. From seasoned players to enthusiastic participants, everyone played a part in making the afternoon special. There’s nothing like a good game of cards to bring people together!

We were honored to host today’s community Good Friday Service in the Doig Chapel. Thank you to Pastor Steve for leading such a meaningful service, and to everyone who took the time to join us. Your presence made the day truly special as we came together in reflection and community. 💐

We had a wonderful Easter celebration yesterday! Thank you to the Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star of Michigan for putting on a joyful program, complete with a warm welcome, festive Easter parade, and a special visit from the Easter Bunny.

Residents and guests also enjoyed a beautiful performance by a talented string trio from the International Women’s Music Fraternity. Check out this clip from the performance below! 🐰🌷

Our residents had the luck of the Irish on their side during our all-day Bingopalooza! With plenty of prizes, tasty treats, and cheerful laughs, the day was filled with tons of fun and a bit of friendly mischief. Thanks again to the volunteers from AdvisaCare Home Care!

We were delighted to welcome back the students from the sociology class at Alma College for another great visit! During their time here, the students spent the afternoon connecting with our residents by playing games, doing nails, and conducting interviews to learn more about their lives and experiences. Moments like these create meaningful connections and brighten everyone’s day.

A sincere thank you to the professor and the entire class for taking the time to visit and for bringing so much positivity to our community!
