Grandparents Day is approaching. To initiate celebrations for these remarkable individuals in our lives, Hannah from the Life Enrichment Department invited her grandmother Sara to showcase her culinary expertise for our community. Hannah and Sara frequently cook together, making this a perfect opportunity to share. They created an assortment of exquisite fruit danishes. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit and savored these delectable treats.

The "Generation of Innovation" week has drawn to a close, finishing with flair. We celebrated our Friday by embarking on an adventure to Wright Park, delving into Almas' rich history. A mouthwatering lunch, meticulously crafted by our Culinary team, was relished amidst engaging conversations. As innovation lies at the heart of Arbor Grove, our staff ingeniously infused the afternoon with hilarious charades and challenges. We then transitioned into preparations for our 60's Rocking Happy Hour, fully immersing ourselves in the era's ambiance. Black Castle Music's enthralling live performance mesmerized us, inspiring us to move in time with the music and resonate with its soulful essence. The "Generation of Innovation" program at Arbor Grove Assisted Living continues to flourish. On Wednesday, we organized a retro-themed lunch, serving 1960s-style TV dinners. We also host monthly birthday celebrations, welcome new community members, and enjoy sixties music and classic car trivia. Today, our focus shifted to innovations in phone technology and communication. We viewed a video of children attempting to operate rotary phones, which proved entertaining. Moreover, our astronaut and alien friends visited with a space innovation mobile cart, offering community members the chance to taste genuine space food – with the cheeseburger being the clear winner.

Arbor Grove Assisted Living's "Generation of Innovation" week continued on Tuesday. Community members participated in an engaging 60's fashion review, indulging in homemade 100Grand bars, a nostalgic snack from that era, which were prepared during the preceding day's cooking with friends session. Conversations revolved around pencil skirts and the era's distinctive hairstyle evolution. Notably, our community boasts a "fashion" icon. Throughout the day, Ethan remained a paragon of style. Our subsequent attempt at hula hooping yielded mixed results, with some succeeding and others struggling, but the collective enjoyment was palpable. The evening's 60's-themed family bingo night, capably hosted by Hannah, featured an assortment of snacks and novel game variations, guaranteeing a triumphant experience for all involved.

One could say that Larry's head has always been in the clouds. With a remarkable flying career, Larry has flown recreationally with colleagues on late afternoons. He has taken friends on extended trips to support those in need. Moreover, he has conducted numerous medical mercy runs throughout his flying tenure. He considers enabling many to discover their own passion for flight as one of his most notable achievements. A longtime friend, Daryl Koch, provided significant support with all of the arrangements. I express genuine gratitude to a wonderful friend of Larry's who truly wanted to see him thrive. Larry is still basking in the glory and I am confident he will remain so for a while. Another big 'thank you' to Three Point Aviation and Gratiot Community Airport, including Alex Murray the instructor who donated his time to make this dream come true. Gratiot Community Airport

Ethan's "Let's Make a Deal" game was today's centerpiece, prompting us to negotiate deals. The session was marked by laughter, adventurous trades, and occasional "Zonk" surprises. Community members shared nostalgic stories of watching game shows with their families.

Happy Friday! We are delighted to share some exciting updates from our community. Arbor Grove Assisted Living has been working on a "Dream Big" project, and last night we successfully brought this vision to life. "Dream Big" is an initiative that enables a community member to relive or experience something for the first time. As the Life Enrichment Director, I must say that this project holds a special place in my heart. We had the pleasure of completing our third "Dream Big" initiative last night with an inspiring gentleman named Larry Trexler from Ithaca, MI. As we navigate through the photos and videos, I would like to give you a sneak peek into this adventure. Stay tuned for more updates and thank yous in the near future.

School is back in session, and our incredible community members have come together, as is tradition, to welcome Alma students with refreshments, educational supplies, and kind gestures. We truly enjoy bringing happiness to the children. Warm wishes and appreciation were exchanged between all parties. We extend our best wishes to Alma Schools for a successful year! 🎉📚🎈😊
