Almont Against Cancer

Hello, my name is Justin Jacob, a teenager with the passion to help fight against childhood cancer. I’m making it my goal in life to help fight against the horrible disease that is cancer. I will be attending Wayne State University and fulfilling my dream of becoming a pediatric oncologist. My story doesn’t begin with the words, “I had cancer,” rather it begins with the words “I want to fight against cancer.” I don’t have a history that includes a story about a time I had cancer, but I watched a loved one of mine go through the treatment process which included three surgeries and many rounds of grueling chemotherapy. He was only seventeen when he received the diagnosis of osteosarcoma, but he didn’t let cancer get the best of him. Through his triumph, my motivation to fight this disease grew, and I knew what I wanted to do in life. Almont Against Cancer isn’t your typical run-of-the-mill organization that takes the credit for developing new things and enabling people to do things, rather we are here as a medium to help raise money and awareness for a disease, which will go towards the treatment costs at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to help fight against pediatric cancer. The whole idea of not being able to make an impact in the world isn’t true and I’m going to do my best to help more kids see more than just their next treatment…I want to help them see another birthday, another holiday, another year. I want Almont Against Cancer to grow and become a network of supporters to help fight against childhood cancer!
