The volunteers of MyMichigan Medical Center Gladwin are now accepting applications for a 2026–2027 Health Care Scholarship for students from the Gladwin area pursuing careers in health care.

🎓 At least one graduating senior from Beaverton High School, Gladwin High School, or Skeels Christian School will receive a one-time $1,500 scholarship to support their education at a Michigan college or university.

Tom has a long history of working in the wound care and hyperbaric space since beginning his career. Since rejoining MyMichigan Health in 2021, Tom has practiced wound care in Alpena and established a full body wound care program at our Tawas location with Dr. Cynthia Payne.

Despite a history of heart disease and nine stents, 81-year-old Chuck Ward remains active. When exhaustion sidelined his passion for fishing, cardiac specialists at MyMichigan Medical Center Midland discovered scar tissue in his stents. After successful repairs by Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Stephen Mattichak, Ward underwent MyMichigan’s comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program. Though initially reluctant, he was won over by the educational sessions led by exercise physiologists. Now feeling stronger and more resilient, Ward has returned to his workouts and is eagerly preparing for the upcoming fishing season.

Doctors Without Orders, a dinner event hosted by MyMichigan Health Foundation Alpena’s Annual Support Committee, recently took place at JJ's Steak and Pizza. The event featured volunteer waitstaff comprised of medical providers and raised funds for a new orthopedic X-ray machine for MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena. Thanks to the generosity of attendees, this year’s event raised an impressive $8,521.
