April is Autism Awareness month!!

Autism isn’t one story—it’s a spectrum of unique strengths, perspectives, and ways of experiencing the world 💙

This month, we celebrate neurodiversity, promote understanding, and continue creating spaces where every individual feels seen, supported, and valued.

For my Georgia Katie Beckett families, there is a new online portal that launched today (4-15-26).

This is intended to give families a more direct way to manage their child’s case, including uploading application and renewal documents, checking status updates, and securely messaging your caseworker.

If you submit a new application or renewal, you should receive an email with instructions to set up your account.

I’ll share the link in the comments.

I’m hopeful this will improve communication and visibility into where things stand.

If anyone has started using it, I’d be interested to hear how it’s working so far.

If you need support navigating the Katie Beckett process, including applications or renewals, me and my team are always happy to help.

🧠 ABA Deep Dive: Differential Reinforcement

What is it, and why do we use it?

Differential reinforcement is a core ABA strategy that helps us increase desired behaviors while decreasing challenging behaviors by reinforcing the responses we want to see more of. Instead of focusing on punishment, we teach and strengthen positive alternatives.

✨ Example:
Instead of reinforcing yelling for attention, we reinforce using a calm voice or appropriate communication. Over time, the positive behavior becomes more effective and more likely to occur again.

Why do we use it?
💚 Builds functional communication
💚 Encourages independence
💚 Reduces interfering behaviors
💚 Creates meaningful, lasting behavior change

At Progress ABA, we love using compassionate, evidence-based strategies that teach our learners what TO do, not just what not to do. 🌱

🍀 Feeling lucky watching our clients grow!
In honor of St. Paddy’s Day, we’ve been focusing on green choices—kind hands, listening ears, and positive behaviors all around.

So proud of the small wins that turn into big progress 💚

Last Tuesday our Progress ABA team had the chance to get together for dinner.

Our RBT's spend their days supporting children and families in homes, schools, and the community, so it's always special when we get a chance to come together as a team. Grateful for such a dedicated group and the care they bring to the work every day.

Rio's Law -

"Love On The Spectrum" star Connor Tomlinson advocated for Senate Bill 433, also known as Rio's Law on Thursday, Jan 29, 2026.

Georgia’s Senate has unanimously approved the Autism Alert License Plate bill, a meaningful step toward safer interactions between neurodiverse drivers and first responders. Senate Bill 433 would allow people with autism - or their families - to obtain a specialty plate that signals to law enforcement and emergency responders that someone in the vehicle may have autism. The bill also would require first responders to receive autism‐awareness training. A thoughtful approach to public safety and inclusion.
