At the end of April, I will no longer be seeing patients in the Kaiser Permanente Alpharetta facility. I have accepted a promotion as an area chief and will be working with ten facilities in northwest Atlanta. I want to thank my staff and colleagues and wonderful patients for the past fifteen years in Alpharetta.

This is good news, but it could be better. If you have the means, buy a box of naloxone (Narcan) to put in your home medical kit or send with your kids to college/high school. Educate friends and family that if you find an unresponsive person, try to rouse, call for help, call 911, start resuscitation and give naloxone.

From JAMA today:
The preliminary findings from the CloroCovid-19 trial suggest that higher dosage of chloroquine should not be recommended for the treatment of severe COVID-19, especially among patients also receiving azithromycin and oseltamivir, because of safety concerns regarding QTc interval prolongation and increased lethality.

Exercisers can burn slightly more body fat with interval training than moderate-intensity continuous training, according to a recent systematic review and meta-analysis in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. Although the differences in fat loss weren’t huge, the interval workouts were shorter, which could make it easier for people to adhere to them. Good luck with any weight loss goals you have in 2020!
