Is your brain "glitching" and being a bit extra lately?
We’ve all been there. One minute you’re thinking about a difficult task, and the next, your brain has convinced you that you’re going to fail. That’s called overestimating—and can be a stress-trap. When your brain starts glitching, meet T.O.M. This 3-step trick helps you exit the "doom-loop" and get back to reality.
Here’s how to do it:
T — Thought: Name the disaster movie playing in your head.
O — Opposite: Imagine the most ridiculous, perfect fairytale ending. (Yes, it feels silly—that’s the point!)
M — Middle Ground: Find the boring, realistic truth that lives in the center.
Why it works: Stress loves the extremes (The Doom vs. The Fairytale). T.O.M. forces your brain to look at both sides so you can land safely in the middle ground where you actually have the power to handle things.
Give it a try! What’s a "Doom Thought" you’ve had today? Can you find the Middle Ground for it?
