90% of this year's pediatric flu deaths were in unvaccinated children, and the season is still ongoing.

The vast majority of children who have died of flu so far this season did not get the flu shot, the CDC reported Friday.

Welp, once again! With snow coming and driving questionably safe, we've decided to stay closed tomorrow (Saturday 1/31) AM. We'll have a doc on call for emergency phone calls. Use the portal for non-emergencies, to be reviewed when we re-open Monday. Stay safe ya'll!

ALSO: All of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Urgent cares will also be closed Saturday. Their three Emergency Departments will of course stay open, as always.

Winter storm update Sunday afternoon:

Both of our offices will be closed tomorrow (Monday) morning, to make sure it's safe for staff and families. We hope to open for the afternoon at 1:30 pm. WINTER STORM UPDATE: Our Roswell office will be open Saturday AM as usual, by appointment only -- please call if you'd like to get an appointment. We'll see what happens over the weekend and will post here with an update for Monday. As always, we'll have a doc available 24/7 for EMERGENCY phone calls only. If you have a non-emergency, send a portal message -- and keep in mind portal messages are not reviewed until our office reopens.

ALSO: All of the outpatient CHOA facilities will be closed Sat-Sun-Mon -- that means ALL of their pediatrics urgent cares are closed.

Tons of flu -- wow! Here's a quick vid on flu, how to recognize and treat, and when to worry. It's pretty miserable, lasts at least a week (and the cough lasts even longer). An ounce of prevention is MUCH better than a pound of cure.

Wishing you a joyful holiday season! Our offices will be open only in the morning on 12/24, fully closed on 12/25, and back to normal appointment hours on 12/26 at both locations. Did you know some vaccines prevent cancer? There's great news about the crazy-effective HPV vaccine! But, less great news looming about cancer prevention with the Hep B vaccine. The vaccine works and is safe (no new studies or new info refutes that in any way), but recommendations are changing, and for no good reason at all. You can and should still protect your children from Hep B! Questions and topic suggestions welcome below.
