Life History Questions -
Week 11 (March 12-March 18th)
· Did people wear green on St. Patrick's Day?
· Do you have any other memories of St. Patrick's Day as a youth?
· Tell of any childhood illnesses (chicken pox, measles, etc)
· Tell about and experience at the doctors or dentist
· Have you ever been to the hospital for an operation as a child, for what?
· Name your best friends from school - grade school, middle and high school
· What were some crazy names or nicknames you had or gave others in your school?
· Tell about a practical joke or prank you played on a person
· Tell about a practical joke or prank someone played on you
· As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
· Did you ever make or put together a kite? How? Tell about your kite flying experiences
· Did you ever dislike another person? Explain

These questions will get is caught up to date. My dad has now agreed to go through these questions with my GMA Betty Boyd. I wish I could be a fly on the wall when they spend time going through these questions. Can't wait to have her history for everyone to see.

Who do you have in your life that you want their stories and experiences. Make a goal and pick someone and start the process. Then work on your own for your posterity.

Week 6 (Feb 5-Feb 11)
· What where you doing to first time you smashed or burnt a finger?
· Who was the most famous person you ever met as a child?
· Tell about a big fib you told
· Tell about someone who had a big influence over your life
· Tell of a nickname given to you by friends or classmates, How did you get it?
· What was your favorite meal as a child?
· Who was your first boyfriend/girlfriend?
· Tell us about your fist date
· Tell us about your first kiss
· Tell about your favorite TV shows

Week 7 (Feb 12-Feb 18)
· Tell about the Valentine Day festivities at your school
· Tell about a special valentine you once gave
· Tell about a special valentine you once received
· Tell about any family reunions in your childhood
· What do you remember as your favorite subject in school?
· What do you remember as your least favorite school subject?
· What is the biggest problem you remember having in grade school?
· What is the biggest problem you remember having in middle/Jr. High School?
· What is the biggest problem you remember having in High School?
· Describe a place you liked to go to be alone

Week 8 (Feb 19 -Feb 25)
· Tell of a place that you discovered or built as a "fort" or hangout
· Tell about a place, hangout or area for you and your friends in Junior or Senior High School
· Tell about the best pet you ever had: name, type
· Tell about other pets you had
· Tell about being in a school play or program
· Tell about a school principal you remember
· Did you ever pretend to be sick as an excuse to stay home from school?
· Do you have a good story about yourself cussing?
· Tell about how you spent your Saturdays during the school year
· Tell about how you spent your Sundays?

Week 9 (Feb 26 - March 4)
· What was the naughtiest or meanest thing you remember doing in school? Were there consequences?
· When on car trips did you play car games?
· What was your favorite radio program?
· What was your favorite movie as youth? Why?
· Did kids ever tease you? About what? Did you tease others? About what?
· Tell of a difficult school essay or term paper assignment
· Did you ever try to smoke or drink alcohol? Tell us about it?
· Do you remember the first time you had pizza? (or select something else memorable with food)
· What was your favorite dinner and why?
· What was your least favorite dinner and why?

Week 10 (March 5-March 11)
· If you ever hitch-hiked explain
· What do you remember as your favorite time of year? Why?
· Describe some household chores as a child
· Describe some outside chores
· Which chore did you dislike the most?
· What bones and how many have your broken and how?
· Did you ever need stiches?
· Do you have any other good stories about being injured?

I got a little behind. I'll post two weeks this week and next. Has anyone taken the challenge? I live to receive the weekly email from my parents Kelley Boyd and Angela Boyd. If you have elderly parents this is a great project to get those memories preserved.

Week 4 (Jan 22-28)
· When you needed punishment as a child which parent corrected you, and how?
· Tell about the naughtiest thing you ever did. If you got caught, describe the consequences.
· Who was the President when you were born? (Leader of your country)
· At what age did you first vote and for whom did you cast your first Presidential Vote?
· Did you ever see a President or Vice President in person?
· Did you ever have an imaginary friend? What was there name and what did you do?
· What did you and your brothers or sisters fight about most?

Week 5 (Jan 29-Feb 4)
· What was the dumbest stunt ever pulled by you and a brother or sister?
· Tell about the worst winter storm that you can remember as a child
· What did you use to go sledding down a hill in the snow?
· Did you want to build a snowman? What extras did you use for your snowman's face, buttons, arms, hat, etc.?
· Do you have any ice skating memories to share?
· Share a memory about a weather related school cancelation
· Do you have any knowledge of the origins of your family surname?

Week 3 Questions - Life Histories

Week 3
· Name the childhood addresses you can remember
· Did you know your Grandparents? What were their names?
· Tell fond memories of your Grandpa/Great Grandpa
· Tell fond memories of your Grandma/Great Grandma
· Tell about your favorite Aunt(s)
· Tell about your favorite Uncle(s)
· Did any of your relatives ever live with you? Why and When?
· Did you have a favorite cousin?
· Relate an experience or memory of a cousin(s)

Week 2 Questions

Here is the second week of questions. My mom and dad are 73 and 74 years old. They have committed to answering these questions. I got their emails and I can tell you that it's simply one of the things I look forward to each week. There is so much I don't know about them.

Week 2 (Jan 8-14)
· What is your mother’s full name?
· What is your father’s full name?
· What was your mother’s date and place of birth?
· What was your father’s date and place of birth?
· Tell a family nickname that you had. How did you get it?
· Tell of any other nicknames in your family.
· What did your father do for a living?
· What did your mother do for a living?
· Name the cities/towns you lived in before you were 20

2023 Family History Challenge! Each week I'll post the questions for the week. Copy and past the questions into a word document and fill out your answers. If you have an older mother or father I strongly suggest you find away to collect the answers for them to. I promised my daughter, Kendall that I would get this done and I commit to 2023!

Week 1 (Jan 1-7)
· What was your year, month, day and date of birth?
· Did anything memorable happen on your birthdate?

It's time to start you own family history collection. I started this process with my Mom and Dad during Covid. I want to share it with you. I'll post questions each week and you can copy them and fill them out. When the year is over you will have half of your history.

Why is your Tree sideways?

I have loved genealogy ever since I was a young boy looking At Microfiche film with my mother. Since that time, I’ve researched and taken my ancestral lines back as far as they will go. Then I realized there were all these aunts and uncles and their families. Then thanks to AncestryDNA and Family Search I realized all of those cousins are all around us.

To me the roots are the past and the green branches are those alive today and the tender shoots will be our posterity. It doesn’t matter if you are looking at the past or present, we are all connected.
