Margarita Vega Chavira

Margarita Vega, a beloved mother, friend, and cherished member of the Marfa community, passed away on December 31, 2025, in her hometown of Marfa, Texas. Born on May 6, 1979, Margarita was a spirited woman who embodied kindness and fierce determination in all aspects of her life.

Margarita was well-known as Marfa's favorite cashier, where her warm smile and engaging personality left a lasting impression on everyone who crossed her path. She was not just a face behind the counter; she was a source of joy and a testament to the small-town spirit that makes Marfa so special. Those who encountered her found a caring soul, someone who would give you the clothes off her back if you needed them, proving time and again that her heart was as vast as her love for her community.

A proud mother, Margarita’s greatest accomplishments were her children: Michael Vega-Reyes, Cecilia Margarita Loretto, Ana Quinonez, Maria Celeste Vega, Angel Juan Carlos Vega, Jesus Omar Vega, and Gael Eduardo Chavira. She instilled in them the values of kindness, mindfulness, and resilience. Her unwavering spirit encouraged them to embrace life’s challenges with grace and determination. Margarita taught her children the importance of enjoying each day as it came, making lifelong memories filled with laughter and love.

Margarita had a vibrant personality and a love for the arts, particularly enjoying bright colors like orange and red. She found joy in the little things, from her fascination with elephants and monarch butterflies to her passion for knitting. Her talents and interests added a splash of brightness to the world around her, much like her radiant spirit did.

In addition to her family, Margarita's absence will be profoundly felt by countless friends and community members who were touched by her generosity and warmth. She was indeed a force to be reckoned with, a woman who lived life fully and inspired everyone around her to do the same.

Margarita is preceded in death by her brother, Fernando Vega Ruiz, whose memory will forever be held dear by her family.

To honor Margarita’s legacy and celebrate the profound impact she made on so many lives, a visitation will take place at Alpine Memorial Funeral Home in Alpine, Texas, on January 9, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.

Margarita Vega will be remembered for her unwavering love, vibrant personality, and the inspiring legacy she leaves behind through her children and all those whose lives she touched. She was and will continue to be dearly missed.

Victoria Holguin

Victoria Molinar Holguin, 91, from Alpine passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025. Her life’s work was her family, finding her greatest fulfillment in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She dedicated her life to creating a warm and safe home for those she comforted and helped.

She was an incredibly strong woman, while small in stature, who raised and provided what she could to five children through her hard-working hands as a housekeeper, babysitter, cook, and reputable seamstress. She was a master of all needle works and crafty creations. She could make something beautiful out of almost anything. Later in life she ran her little pop-up craft store out of her home, long before pop-ups became a thing, mostly gifting her treasured creations.

She is survived by her two sisters, Flora and Socorro; her daughters Teresa (Terry), Cecilia (Cissy)-husband Macky, and Maria (Kiki); her grandchildren Jonas, Camilla, Monique, Hector, Jr., Jesus, Jr., Javier, Daniel, Victoria, Rozalia, Adela, and Vicente; 21 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by a vast number of friends who considered her like their mother and grandmother because of her selfless way of helping even when she had so little. She truly endeared them and stole their hearts.

She quickly became a cherished and loved family member at the McCamey Convalescent Center where staff and residents alike did not think their day was complete until they received a personal blessing from Miss Victoria as they sought her out for their daily “bendicion”.

She is preceded in death by her two sons, Hector Holguin (Eva), Jesus Holguin (Annabel), her first grandson, Augustine Holguin; her father, Ramon Molinar; mother, Carolina Molinar; sisters Aubina, Simona, Fe, Josefina, Juanita, Carolina; her twin brother, Faustino; brothers Ramon, Florencio, and Juan.

She will be missed and remembered fondly by all whose hearts she touched.

Viewing and visitation will be held at the Alpine Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, December 29, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with Rosary at 5:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with Interment to follow at Holy Angels Cemetery.
