Medisoft Version 24 Upgrades

FYI for Older Version Medisoft users: This is not a scare tactic. Microsoft is updating their operating system and will support only Windows 10. Older users of Medisoft are likely using Windows 7 or earlier as your operating system. Microsoft Windows 7 END OF LIFE date for support and security updates/patches is January 14. 2020.

If a security vulnerability is discovered, Microsoft will not release a patch to fix it in older versions of Microsoft. Therefore, any computer running Windows 7 or older after the January 14, 2020 is no longer fully protected and is no longer HIPAA-compliant.

Simply upgrading the Operating system to Windows 10 will not be enough, Medisoft Version 19 and older are not Windows 10 compatible and may not operate properly. Based on what we saw in V19 and V20 on Windows 10, JBS would not advise that you take that chance, but likely you can and may be fine. It’s just completely beyond our control what Windows 10 may push out for security next year that causes an issue with the older versions.

If you load Version 21 or Version 22 on a Windows 10, you are likely to be fine, just be aware there is no complete guarantee for Medisoft service hotfixes like there are with Version 23 and Version 24.
