Starting yesterday, the Christian tradition entered the Rogation Days — old observances centered around prayers for healthy crops, good weather, the land, and the people who depend on it. At their heart, they’re reminders that human beings have always understood something simple: we are connected to the earth, whether we act like it or not.
And today, in parts of the Ta***ic Buddhist tradition, is Dakinis’ Day — a time connected to the feminine currents of wisdom, transformation, and the power to turn intention into compassionate action. Offerings are made not just for personal growth, but for healing, balance, and positive change in the world around us.
Different paths. Different symbols. Different language. But underneath both is a very old human understanding: The earth is not separate from us. What we plant matters. What we nurture matters. What we ignore eventually asks to be seen.
Maybe this week is a good reminder to check in with the world around us just a bit more than we might normally do. Plant something. Support local growers. Pick up trash. We are going to sit outside in our garden for ten quiet minutes each morning. Say a prayer. Set an intention. Manifest. However you frame it spiritually, the invitation feels pretty universal.
The world heals in small acts first.
