✨️Welcome Ava as the first ATOB teammate✨️

It's no secret that I've been in over my head for a while with office operations. Ava is here to help with quicker response times, answer questions, schedule, check emails, etc.
Ava has a love for all things health and enjoys the outdoors.

She will spend some time in the office as well as work remotely. Please give her a warm welcome to A Touch of Balance.

Just wanted to acknowledge my presence and response time outside of the treatment room, which is less lately due to work and personal life that is requiring a lot more of my time.

I am actively trying to find a solution for better response times and presence. Until then, I'm doing my best.

Always feel free to reach out. If you don't hear from me right away, please note that I'll get back to you as soon as I can, I'm not ignoring you. 🫶

I pack my days with treatment as I prioritize helping my clients feel well. This, though, however, takes away from office hours opportunity. And it's a slippery slope if I take work home with me/respond to messages. My kids dont ever get a mom who is fully present.

Thank you all for understanding as continued support in my small business!

Signs the body is healing....🙌

The amazing thing is this kiddo came in, in the state of sympathetic nervous system activated.
They chose some toys and a fidget to play with to keep their body regulated and stay on the table while we worked.

However about half way through their body was able to find parasympathetic- rest & digest. They chose to put down the toys and fidget and asked. "This is weird, I feel like I need to nap, can I?"

Yes!!

Their body woke up a few times and then finally got into a lovely deep rest while I worked.

Rest is healing. If your body can't find rest, it will stay in overdrive, and the rest/calm can feel disregulating.

Continuing on the diaphragms ✨️Thorasic inlet.

Fun fact I have to release the thorasic inlet before doing a cranial base release.

Why?

The thorasic inlet plays a big role in drainage. If the river is clogged, it can't flow downstream.

Therefore, if there are restrictions in the thorasic inlet preventing optimal flow and I release the cranial base, it will have no place to drain and only add to symptoms or the problem.

I work the thorasic inlet a lot to promote mobility in the musculoskeletal system but also lymph, nerves, respiratory, and surrounding tissues.

Testimonies can be so powerful to help gain knowledge to others. Everyone's experience with fascial release can be different from one session to the next, let alone one person to the next. It is a blessing and also offers a challenge as people often want to know what to expect in outcomes.
Dr. Ashley, thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience as a provider.
This scenario is one of my favorites that happens often.
Some clients will be already established and working with a chiropractor, massage therapist, trainer, SLP, counseling, and other professionals. After CST, the provider will notice a change in the shared client and ask the client what did you do?

Pelvic Care!

The pelvis is one of the primary foundations of our body. Atlas/axis being the other.

The pelvis is the base of our body, which supports us.

It's directly connected to the jaw and our breath.

Women have the potential to grow/house a baby.
Sometimes, it can undergo trauma from birth or an event.

It can hold emotion. It houses some of our GI systems, which is so important to maintain for optimal health.

Oftentimes, we hear needing to tighten the pelvic floor. This isn't always the case. Sometimes, we need to focus on relaxing it to feel and function the best.

Men and women alike can benefit from fascial release in the pelvis.

Babies can have tension for numerous reasons. Stressful pregnancy, positioning in utero, oral ties, difficult or long or fast delivery, being stuck in containers and not enough free moment.

I have been seeing so many babies lately.
Here are the top 5 things to notice to see if your baby has tension.

June Schedule is officially open, and
ATOB is now ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS again!
New clients can be seen at the newly expanded Thorp space!

Have you been waiting to try services at ATOB?

Nows the time! Summer is coming, school is out, let's get your body ready for summer activities and feeling its best!

Stay tuned for a sneek peek. 👀

A common question I get is for new clients is, can I start in Thorp and transfer to Altoona?
Due to the high volume of clients I had already established in Altoona, there is no room/availability for new clients on Chippewa schedule.

ButThorp is a quick car ride from Eau Claire, only about 35-40 min. Those who make the drive already say its a breeze, and they get to check out the small town local coffee shop and café as well, and it does not disappoint. 💐

An important update‼️
A Touch of Balance is moving!
Past and current clients and email went out with this and further details.

ATOB is moving its primary location to Thorp that is being NEWLY remodeled and expanded!
I will see current and past clients in Chippewa on Wednesdays. In June I will be there 2 Fridays but then following every Wednesday. I will not be accepting new clients in Chippewa, other than infants if they are a provider referral and my schedule allows.

All the details can be found in the email or on the website under booking-important update.

I understand this is a change, and you may have questions. Feel free to reach out. Please note I do almost all operations myself yet and carry a full caseload of clients, so please give me grace in responding to you all.

Oral tightness and tongue ties🪢

What to look for?

Infants
✔️ Mouth breathing
✔️ Difficulty latching/Nursing
✔️ Clicking or getting air during nursing
✔️ Can their tongue suction to the roof of the mouth?
✔️ Whole body tightness
✔️ Constipation
✔️ Excess drooling or dribbling when nursing
✔️ Mom is sore or breast tissue damaged
✔️ Lip blister
✔️ Tongue that appears ❤️ shaped when extended
✔️ Difficulty sleeping

For older kiddos
✔️ Mouth breathing
✔️ Does the tongue rest lightly suctioned on the upper palate.
✔️ Speech difficulty/delay
✔️ Bedwetting
✔️ Packing food in their mouth
✔️ Whole body tightness or TMJ issues
✔️ Tongue that appears ❤️ shaped when extended
✔️ Inability to move tongue from side to side, outside of the mouth, or reach the top.
✔️ Enlarged tonsils

Fascial work can be very beneficial to release the tension in the mouth and entire body as it's often all tight since it's all connected. Depending on the severity of the restriction, it may be enough to not require a procedure.

Getting fascial work done pre & post release sets the body up for optimal recovery along with myofunctional therapy for older kids and adults.

If your baby, child, or yourself have multiple of these red flags, it's best to get an evaluation at an airway dentist who specializes in oral development.

Why does this matter?

The floor of the sinuses is the top of the mouth. This means that if the top of the mouth/palate is too narrow, your airway will, in turn, follow suit. It's much better to breathe through a garden hose than a straw.
High palates that dont allow the tongue to rest on top can lead to sleep apnea, sinus troubles, enlarged tonsils, speech difficulties, dental problems, poor jaw development/growth, and more.

I 🫶 working with pediatrics! 👩‍🦽🚶‍♂️👩‍🍼🤸‍♂️
Who wouldn't love to play while you work?
I've specialized in pediatrics since graduating 9 years ago! There aren't many providers who see full body treatments for pediatrics in the Chippewa Valley, but I do! 😁
Fascial therapy can be so impactful for children!
Post-injury/fall, it's my favorite to see a kiddo and be able to guess that they must've had taken a tumble. The answer is almost always, yep, how'd you know? The fascia is always affected, how much it is able to self correct is the question.
Tongue ties, constipation, anxiety, helping with milestones and optimal development, and... more!
It's so important to check their fascia it is a part of EVERYTHING in our body. If there's tightness or restriction in it that region of the body and more will decrease in vitality without the proper mobility to allow nutrients and function and show symptoms in other areas such as spinal alignment, pain in that or other regions, abnormal gait, organ function. It's not always right away. Sometimes, I will see someone who's 50 yrs old, and we find fascia affected by something that happened when they were 8 yrs old, causing an unwanted symptom now later in life.
The body has the capability to heal itself, and it's really quite remarkable when you think about it.
Whether they are carried in, roll in, or walk in! I love getting to meet all the wonderful kiddos who teach me new things every day!
Thank you to everyone who trusts in ATOB to be a part of your family wellness. 💚
