🎃 Pumpkin Decorating Contest at Altoona Nursing & Rehab! 🎃

Our amazing staff & residents showed off their creativity this week with our annual pumpkin decorating contest — and WOW, do we have some talented team members! 🍂✨ Each pumpkin is unique and full of personality, just like our incredible staff.

Stop by the facility to check out all the pumpkins in person and cast your vote for your favorite before next Friday! 🗳️🎃

Altoona is on a roll!

Meet Nick, who transferred to our facility for rehabilitation on 8-15-25. Shortly thereafter, Nick became a long-term care resident on 9-12-25. However, this development seemed to motivate Nick, an ambitious individual, to work diligently towards returning home. Today, Nick successfully discharged home with his lovely wife. The Altoona family will always remember him fondly and extend their best wishes for his future endeavors.

Happy Tears
Today marks a significant milestone at Altoona. Not long ago, we received a referral for a gentleman transitioning from a Skilled Nursing Facility to home care. Fortunately, his wife Linda was also admitted, making them a package deal. While her husband regained sufficient strength to return home, Linda required extended care. Unfortunately, her husband was subsequently rehospitalized and necessitated long-term care placement. I was disheartened by this development, knowing our facility lacked available long-term care beds. I wondered what measures I could take to reunite the couple. Through collaboration with a hospital social worker, we successfully secured long-term care placement for both individuals, enabling them to remain together. For days, Linda has expressed her eagerness to leave, and today marks the realization of that goal. As they embark on a new chapter in their journey together, we extend our best wishes for their future.

🍂 Fall has officially arrived at Altoona Nursing & Rehab! 🍁

A huge shoutout to our amazing team — Debbie, Shanna, and Kim — for taking the time to make the front of our building feel full of fall spirit! From buying the cutest fall décor to hand-crafting the brooms and wreaths themselves, they truly went above and beyond to make our entryway warm, welcoming, and festive.

Their creativity and teamwork never go unnoticed — thank you for making our home as beautiful on the outside as it is on the inside! 🧡🍂✨

We’re getting ready for our Trunk or Treat and Daycare Visit and are looking for candy donations to help make it a sweet success for our residents and anyone who stops by.

If you’d like to donate, please drop off sealed candy bags at Altoona Nursing and Rehab anytime before October 29th.
Thank you for helping us spread smiles and spooky fun this Halloween! 🎃👻

🎃 Calling All Ghouls and Goblins! 👻
We’re gearing up for our Trunk or Treat event at Altoona Nursing and Rehab on October 31st from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM, and we need volunteers to help make it a spooktacular evening for our residents and community!
Whether you want to decorate a trunk or hand out treats we’d love your support. Your time and creativity will help bring smiles to our residents and little trick-or-treaters alike!

We’re going all out with a tailgate celebration. A huge thank you to our kitchen staff for the delicious food and to our amazing residents and staff for bringing the team spirit that makes this so wonderful. 💛❤️🖤💛
