Engorgement is when your breasts become swollen or overly full—usually in the early days when your milk is transitioning or if milk isn’t being removed effectively. Your breasts may feel:
• Very firm, tight, and swollen
• Warm and heavy
• Tender, but more “pressure” than sharp pain
• Skin may look stretched or shiny
• Even a low grade fever

Utilizing supportive measures like frequent icing, lymphatic drainage, and putting baby to breast on demand will get you feeling better in a day or two!

There is no reason to panic as this can be a normal process after having baby. But if you have any questions or concerns don’t hesitate to reach out! We are always happy to help in anyway we can and put those worries at ease! (•)(•)

Welcome to our series on fl**ge shape! (•)(•)
-Did you know there are different shape fl**ges?
-Did you know that shape is as important as size?

The PANO fl**ge has a wider angle than the regular fl**ge that comes with most pumps, this makes it suitable for wide based breast. This wider angle also helps prevent gaping between the fl**ge and breast. The soft silicone rim makes for a comfortable pump even with a tight pumping bra or high suction.

All b***s are different, don’t settle for discomfort. You deserve the best experience possible while pumping. Contact us at HomeGrown Lactation Services today for your complete fl**ge fitting. ✨

Newborns Tummy Size 👶🏾

Your baby’s stomach is TINY… and that changes everything 👇

One of the biggest misconceptions we see?
Parents worrying they’re “not making enough milk” in the early days.

But here’s the truth:

✨ Day 1: Baby’s stomach = the size of a cherry (5–7 mL)
✨ Day 3: About a walnut (22–27 mL) ≈ 1oz
✨ 1 week: About an apricot (45–60 mL) 1.5-2oz
✨ 1 month: About an egg (80–150 mL) 2.5-5oz

Your newborn doesn’t need ounces and ounces—they need small, frequent feeds.

✔️ Frequent nursing = NORMAL
✔️ Cluster feeding = NORMAL
✔️ Wanting to be at the breast often = NORMAL

It’s not a supply issue—it’s biology doing exactly what it’s designed to do.

Your body makes the perfect amount for your baby’s current stomach size.

💡 This is why early supplementation (when not medically needed) can sometimes interfere with supply—it bypasses this natural demand-and-supply system.

If you’ve ever questioned whether your baby is getting enough, you’re not alone—but you also don’t have to guess.

We help families understand what’s normal, what’s not, and how to feel confident feeding their baby 🤍

🍼

Bottle refusal is one of the most common—and most stressful—challenges we see.

A baby who refuses a bottle isn’t being “difficult”… they’re communicating.

Babies are wired for connection, familiarity, and flow. When something feels different—like a bottle, ni**le shape, or feeding position—they may resist.

The good news? Bottle refusal is very workable with the right approach.

✔️ Timing matters more than people think
✔️ Technique often matters more than the bottle itself
✔️ And no—starving them out is NOT the answer

If you’re heading back to work, planning ahead can make all the difference. And if you’re already in the thick of it—it’s not too late.

At HomeGrown Lactation Services we help families navigate bottle refusal with personalized, gentle strategies that actually work.

📩 Reach out if you need support—you don’t have to figure this out alone.
