Every generation carries a moment etched so deeply in memory that it feels as if it happened yesterday. The Silent Generation recalls the tragedy of Pearl Harbor and listening to President Roosevelt’s voice over the radio. Baby Boomers remember the shock of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Gen X and Millennials can vividly recall the day the Murrah Building was destroyed and how our Great State rallied in the Heartland. And then there was 9/11 and the impact that continues to ripple through every pre and post generation.

In the wake of each of these tragic and unimaginable events, there was no singular grand prize or easy resolution. Yet, time and again, Americans rose up, standing shoulder to shoulder to defend and comfort one another—strangers in every sense except for the common bond of the Great Red, White, and Blue.
