!!UPDATE!!
AMAZING!!! our community stepped up fast! All pups are currently in foster and we have met some amazing souls along the way who have given us puppy food, toys, puppy pads, well wishes and most of all support! Amazing Alvarado! Thank you never seems enough.

1Update all pups appear healthy and are 4 to 5 weeks old they are doing normal puppy stuff and range from 2 pounds to 6 pounds we are grateful for all fosters, supporters and volunteers. Sorry for the delay in information our team of 2 are doing our best. 🐾 NOT THE START TO 2026 WE HOPED FOR 🐾
While our doors were closed for the New Year’s holiday, 15 tiny souls were left in a box on the side of the road near the shelter.
It is a heartbreaking reality. Shelters and rescues everywhere are already at a breaking point, and starting the year with 15 unexpected arrivals is a massive challenge.
The Good News: We are incredibly grateful toBrice Ryder and the Alvarado Police Department Officer Chavez and Officer Eadler.Brice who spotted them , and A.p.d officers who brought them inside to the warmth, and made sure they were safe until we could get to them.
The Hard Truth: We are full. We need our community now more than ever.
HOW YOU CAN HELP RIGHT NOW:
* FOSTER: If you have a small space in your home and a little time, fostering even one or two of these pups for a few weeks saves lives. It opens up a kennel for the next animal in need.
* ADOPT: If you’ve been thinking about adding a furry family member, please come meet these babies* too young to adopt (or any of our long-stay residents!).
* SHARE THIS POST: You never know which one of your friends is looking for a new best friend. Your "Share" could be the reason one of these 15 pups bigger friends finds a couch to sleep on tonight.
Let's turn this sad start into a New Year's miracle for these 15.

Itchy eyes, tender sinuses, sore throat, sneezes and a cough? It's December in Texas, meaning the Mountain Cedar is in the air!

Mountain Cedar (or Ashe Juniper) is one of the most potent allergens. Pollen from mountain cedar and juniper trees is responsible for the mid-winter phenomenon known as cedar fever in central Texas. Pollen is released during December and January and can be carried by prevailing winds for miles.
