Feeling persistently sluggish or lacking motivation? A LOT of us do.

The living conditions of our fast-paced, modern society tend to inevitably lead in that direction. Fundamental necessities of being a healthy human like getting a restful 7-8 hours of sleep at night and eating nutrient and protein-dense food are actively de-emphasized in lieu of a frenetic, money-focused 'life in the fast lane.'

In this post, following the work of one of my favorite active psychologists, I highlight six factors that can help restore balance and get you feeling energized again. Best of all, they're all free or cheap! Although, granted, it's not always easy to get in the habit of prioritizing them again if it's a new thing for you, or something you haven't done in a while.

If that's the case, working with myself or one of my colleagues in the mental health professions might be a great investment of time and resources. Contrary to some commonly held perceptions, you don't have to be in a mental health crisis to see a mental health professional! In fact, it's a really great idea to not wait that long. Being proactive costs some money on the front end, but might save you a lot of time, resources, stress, and heartache further on down the line.

If this is something on your mind or your heart right now, I still have some openings! And if we're family or close friends, still feel free to reach out and I can assist with finding help from one of my colleagues. The investment might well turn out to be the best one you've ever made.

Do you find yourself feeling sluggish and unenthusiastic about getting out of bed in the morning? Do you go through the motions during the day wondering ‘why do I feel so tired, numb, and unhappy all the time?’ You’re not alone. Many people feel the same way, and it’s not a great wonder why....

I had such a good response when I posted my profile a couple months back, I thought it might be a good time to do so again, especially with school starting back up! I still have plenty of openings and would be delighted to help any teens or adults you might know struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, or career / school issues.

Feel free to share far-and-wide to let your friends and family know that help is available if they need it. It's a great joy to help my clients find their passion and fulfillment again, and nothing would bring me more joy than to share and facilitate this experience with as many people as I can.

‘Why?’ is the most powerful question we can ask ourselves. Failure to have a good answer to it in reference to our own life – “why do I get out of the bed in the morning?” “why do I work so hard?” “why am I living where I’m living and doing what I’m doing?” – is often one of the key factors associated with the struggle of depression.

In this post, I share some practical strategies for helping answer the question of 'why?' – namely, clearly identifying what your values and goals are and gradually, but deliberately, moving your behaviors and habits more-and-more in alignment with them over time.

If you know of anyone looking for help in this area, I still have some openings in my calendar and would be happy to help. Feel free to contact me on the form at the bottom of this post, and let's take some positive action today! :-)

One of the most impactful reads of my graduate school experience – not uncommon among student counselors – was Man’s Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl.
