Black History Spotlight | Worth Remembering
At Warford–Overstreet Mortuary, we believe remembering is an act of love and legacy. Throughout Black History Month, we are honored to spotlight local community members whose lives, service, and stories helped shape our city. These are the trailblazers, servants, leaders, and everyday heroes whose impact still lives on through family, faith, and community. We invite you to join us in remembering, honoring, and celebrating those worth remembering. 🖤✨

Today we observe Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the sacred season of Lent.

Ash Wednesday reminds us that we are called to reflection, repentance, and renewal. The ashes placed upon our foreheads symbolize humility, a returning to God with open hearts and a renewed spirit. It is a moment to pause, to pray, and to realign our lives with faith, purpose, and compassion.

As we enter this Lenten season, may we seek forgiveness, extend grace, and commit ourselves to serving others with love. May this be a time of spiritual growth, deeper devotion, and strengthened community.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10

Wishing you a meaningful and reflective Ash Wednesday.

At Warford–Overstreet Mortuary, we understand the power of legacy. Reverend Jackson’s life reminds us that service is greater than self, that faith must be active, and that justice requires courage. His commitment to dignity, equity, and opportunity for all aligns deeply with our own mission of serving families with honor, compassion, and excellence.
Today, we reflect not only on his accomplishments, but on the countless lives he inspired — leaders, dreamers, and everyday citizens who believed change was possible because he dared to speak it.
May we continue the work.
May we protect the legacy.
May we rise together.
