Vaccines are one of the most effective tools to protect children and communities from serious, preventable diseases. Brian Weis, M.D., regional dean of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Amarillo, joined Studio 4 to talk about the importance of childhood immunizations for school. Vaccines work by training the immune system to recognize and fight harmful viruses and bacteria, helping prevent illness before it starts.
Dr. Weis encourages parents to speak with their child’s pediatrician to make sure all vaccines are up to date. Staying on schedule keeps classrooms and communities safer for everyone.
