Featured Resident for August: Melvyn is a woodcarver, a very talented one at that! He started at the age of 50 and was a natural. His first carving was the pair of boots you see in the pictures and the last one he did was the Bob Cat at 66. The detail in his art accelerated over the years as he won awards and ribbons for his work. He took classes at AC here in Amarillo and was part of the Golden Spread Woodcarvers. Thank you for sharing your beautiful talent with us!

She has been at Brookdale since March but has already made a big impact in our dining room. Her background is in catering, and she takes great pride in everything, never leaving anything halfway. Our garden is more than just a pretty place. One special area is a sweet memorial to one of the Panhandle farmers/Brookdale family members. Before leaving this earth last year, Alphonse planted his sunflowers that grew taller than anyone had expected, well over 12 ft. He never got to see them in full glory, but the memories of him and his sunflowers remain. His wife Myrna has placed a flag in this area to help us all remember. We are so blessed!
