We are ONE week away from one of my favorite events of the year! The 3rd Annual Smiles for Speech Comedy Benefit show 8/7/2025 at the Stand NYC. We have a hilarious line up of comedians, it’s going to be a great show! I hope you can make it, if not, consider checking out and donating. I wanted to announce this session for the upcoming ASHA convention because it is something I am passionate about and have presented on many times. Your job should not be ruling your personal life and there are things you can do to help manage it all. I hope you join me to learn some practical strategies (and some evidence based practices) to help you advocate and set boundaries at your job. See you in DC! I will be teaming up with two knowledgable SLPs who are currently writers for the Informed SLP (my go to for keeping up with research in our field).

I am folding up my exhibiting table for the summer after four successful conferences. Getting to share my books in person with real therapists, teachers, and parents is so exciting for me. I love watching people look through my books and see all of the potential learning that can come from them. Rest of July: I’m partnering with a local non profit to give Smiles for Speechn a couple of weeks at my local zoo and be the guest storytime reader! I am doing a family trip soon and then I will be hosting the Comedy Benefit in New York City in Early August.

What’s up next for exhibiting/selling books? The Mississippi Speech and Hearing Convention in September and the ASHA convention in DC in November!

What’s up next for speaking events? I am speaking at the Level Up Conference: School-Based Edition (virtual conference in August), 2 courses for the Mississippi Speech and Hearing Convention in September, 2 courses for the Morris County Online Conference in October, and then I’m an invited speaker at the ASHA convention in November.

I hope to see some of you at one my coming events (drop a comment if you will be at any of those).

Will we see you in NYC very soon? Save the date for the 3rd annual Smiles for Speech Comedy Benefit show August 7, 2025 at 7pm. We have a top secret line up of hilarious comedians again this year!

We have a few corporate sponsorships available if you are interested! Send us a DM and we will get you the info!

This year’s benefit will focus on raising funds for therapy services, training, and supplies for serving children and our brand new Early Learning Center in Ghana.

When I heard the convention was going to be on Disney property, I didn’t hesitate! I will be traveling to Orlando this week to exhibit my books! I can’t wait to see and talk to Florida SLPs!

Happy Graduation Month!

I like sharing my story every year for those who may not have the most traditional route. I graduated with my Bachelor’s 9 months pregnant (divorced and single). I started graduate school 2 months later with a 2 month old. Then four seemingly long years later, I graduated with my Master’s degree with a 4 year old❤️. I had to do graduate school very part time so I could support my child. I worked full time as a social worker for Child Protective Services for 3 years of that time. I share this story to hopefully give hope and a little inspiration to other unconventional students out there. You got this and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It seemed like school would never end to me but now it has been almost 19 years since I waddled across that stage to earn my first college degree! The little guy in the picture turns 19 next month!

This year has been exciting! My niece graduated with her BS in Speech and Hearing Sciences last week and our youngest son graduates High School tomorrow. 😭
