🌋 Homemade Lava Lamps are probably my favorite. I just love watching the reaction of the baking soda and vinegar (similar to volcanoes) but the vegetable oil slows down the reaction and makes it look like a lava lamp! How cool! Plus the ingredients are cheap! I do these types of activities at the end of grading periods as rewards (while still working on goals).

Did you know I have simple experiment packs to go with these kinds of activities that give you all of the teaching materials (and more!) to have a fun but productive lesson?
I have two versions: One for SLPs (includes supplemental worksheets to go with speech and language goals) and one for non-SLPs. Each set comes with visuals, sequencing activities, comprehension worksheets (written and picture supported), supply lists, and so much more.

What is your favorite experiment? I have packs for slime, volcanoes, storm in a cup, lava lamps, and homemade snow. Let me know in the comments.

Comment “lava” for the link to this experiment pack

Tip: Find smooth clear water bottles, for best viewing! These are by and they are perfect!

When your earrings match your book choice 🙌🏼 (how cute are these??)

One Weird Wednesday 2025 Royal Dragonfly Boon Award Winner 🏆

We used One Weird Wednesday by Amanda Schaumburg (me!) in speech therapy last week. I used this one book with kindergarten through 4th graders and they all LOVED it. This book is excellent for predictions, absurdities, comprehension questions, vocabulary, grammar, etc. For my articulation students, we found words on each page with their target sounds and practiced reading/saying them. Did you know all of the supplemental worksheets in this video come FREE with the book? My favorite (and the kids’) was the My Wacky Wednesday drawing activity (each kid got to draw something wacky in their own house). We also did the picture supported comprehension pages, story element pages, and the “make it make sense” WH question page.

Find this book on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or on my website! Also available in eBook and Kindle versions.

I made these quick images several years back to share how I use plastic easter eggs in speech therapy during spring speech therapy session. Cheap, easy, and engaging! Plus I have a free fun decorate an Easter egg coloring page download included.

Who knew jokes could be so educational! I love seeing my books in action in your schools and homes (send me pics or tag me!).

I use jokes as a warm up for my therapy sessions. Jokes are a fun way to connect BUT they naturally contain literary elements that are great for language (idioms, puns, homophones, antonyms/synonyms, personification, etc.). I created this joke book for this reason! Each joke has a “Brains behind the Joke” section that breaks all of these things down and gives them a brain challenge for each one! It is organized by category.

For a limited time I am doing SALE on my joke book. Use code “joke” on my website to get 10% off OR if you prefer you can purchase on Amazon (code only works on my website).

If you want a fast link comment “joke” and I will send it to you in a DM. Tell me below, do you use jokes in your classroom/therapy room?
