💥Depression and shame if experienced productively can be a catalyst to a new and better you. For when we find ourselves at our lowest points is when we tend to separate, transition and then reacclimate. This is a natural process and a part of the human experience as we navigate the challenges of life. There is no imbalance. There is nothing inherently wrong with you. All people experience this to different degrees, but experience it we do.
After all, depression is very useful and adaptive. It serves a purpose. As a natural response to loss, whether symbolic, ambiguous or tangible, depression forces us into a period of self-reflection. During this time people often retreat from society and the mundane of daily life with an opportunity to confront their primary reasoning for suffering and gage what changes must be made to move forward.
It is unfortunate that many find themselves stuck in step 1 the separation. Come back to us. If you're feeling stuck and find yourself isolating I have great news for you. You have descended to where growth occurs and a new, stronger, and better version of you is on the horizon. If you're struggling please do not hesitate to reach out to 10:23 or another competent professional.
It is said that whenever a friend reported enthusiastically, "I have just been promoted!" Jung would say, "I'm very sorry to hear that: but if we all stick together, I think we'll get through it." If a friend arrived depressed and ashamed , saying, "Ive just been fired," Jung would say, " let's open a bottle of wine; this is wonderful news; something good will now happen."🗣

*10:23 does not endorse the bottle of wine celebration but only shares this to demonstrate the ups and downs of life. The fact that suffering is inevitable and often a golden sign of a new beginning.
