Wrapping up our TSHA 2026 shoutouts—and we saved a great one for last! 👏
We are proud to celebrate Val Parker, Darla Marcear, and Lisa Robinson for representing WTAMU CONHS at the Texas Speech-Language Hearing Association Annual Conference in Fort Worth! 📚✨
Their dynamic, interactive session highlighted practical ways to strengthen collaboration between speech-language pathologists and nurses through hands-on interprofessional education (IPE). By alternating roles as teachers and learners, delivering in-service presentations, and engaging in small-group training grounded in IPEC Core Competencies and ASHA standards, they demonstrated how joint learning translates directly into better patient care.
Their work shows how interprofessional education can:✅ Boost clinical confidence for both SLPs and nurses✅ Strengthen role clarity and mutual respect across disciplines✅ Create smoother collaboration and more cohesive, patient-centered care
This initiative transforms a program requirement into a launchpad for real-world teamwork and lasting clinical impact.
We are SO proud of these three for equipping professionals with tools to support patients more effectively and for contributing to the future of interprofessional education.
Please join us in congratulating them on an outstanding presentation! 🎉👏
