Headaches can be crippling and almost always occur at the worst possible times. While over the counter medication or ANOTHER cup of coffee may provide temporary relief there may be a more involved underlying cause.
Headaches can often be caused by muscle tension in the neck, also known as the cervical spine. This tension can lead to decreased motion, pain, and headaches that can decrease our quality of sleep, concentration, and life!
If this is something you have been struggling with, physical therapy interventions have been proven to help decrease a large majority of tension related headaches! Attached is a great article showing the effects physical therapy had for individuals with tension related headaches.

"Cervical exercises, relaxation, massage, postural exercises, cranio-cervical techniques, thermotherapy, vertebral mobilization and stretching are effective in reducing TTH symptoms such as pain frequency and intensity."
If you or someone you know struggles with headaches we would be happy to have one of our therapists discuss if physical therapy may be a viable option to improving concentration and getting your life back headache free!
