🌿 Nourish Your Body With Fiber: Are You Getting Enough?

Fiber is one of the most overlooked nutrients—but it plays a big role in keeping your body strong, energized, and supported, especially as an amputee.

Getting enough fiber helps:

💛 Improve digestion and gut health
⚡ Maintain steady energy levels
🫀 Support heart health
🔥 Help manage blood sugar
🌱 Reduce inflammation and support overall wellness

✨ Easy ways to add more fiber to your day:
🥣 Oatmeal and whole grains
🍎 Fruits (apples, berries, pears)
🥕 Vegetables (broccoli, carrots, greens)
🌰 Beans, lentils, and chickpeas
🥜 Nuts and seeds

Most adults need about 25–30 grams of fiber per day, yet many don’t get enough.

You don’t have to overhaul your diet.
Start by adding one high-fiber food to one meal today.

Small choices support big healing.

💬 What’s your favorite fiber-rich food right now?

I love berries! Frozen blueberries are my favorite.

Sincerely, Nurse Coach Dulcey

🌿 Prioritize Your Physical Health—One Day at a Time

Taking care of your body as an amputee isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about showing up for yourself with small, consistent habits that support healing and energy.

Your daily choices matter more than you think.

✨ Three simple ways to support your physical health:

😴 Get enough sleep
Rest helps your body repair, reduce inflammation, and restore strength.

🥗 Eat a balanced diet
Fuel your body with protein, fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, and whole grains to support recovery and stamina.

⏰ Create a gentle routine
A regular schedule for meals, movement, rest, and self-care helps your body feel safe and supported.

You don’t have to do everything at once.
Start with one habit today—and build from there.

Your health is your foundation.
Protect it. Honor it. Nurture it.

💬 Which habit are you focusing on this week—sleep, nutrition, or routine?

I am working on a diet to lose some weight!!

Sincerely, Nurse Coach Dulcey

🌿 Strengthen Your Mindset by Celebrating Progress in a Journal

One of the most powerful ways to build a strong mindset as an amputee is to track your progress in writing. When you journal your wins—big or small—you create proof that you are growing.

On hard days, your mind may forget how far you’ve come.
Your journal won’t.

✨ Why journaling your progress helps:
💛 Builds confidence through visible growth
🧠 Reframes setbacks as learning moments
🌱 Highlights small wins you might overlook
⚡ Strengthens motivation to keep going

📝 Try this simple daily entry:
• One thing I accomplished today
• One challenge I handled well
• One thing I’m proud of

Over time, those small entries become powerful evidence of resilience.

Your progress deserves to be seen—especially by you.

💬 Do you journal daily, weekly, or when you need encouragement most?

Sincerely, Nurse Coach Dulcey

🌿 Celebrate Your Win: Completing Physical Therapy After Limb Loss

Today, take a moment to honor yourself.
Completing physical therapy after limb loss is more than finishing sessions—it’s proof of your dedication, courage, and resilience.

You showed up on hard days.
You pushed through discomfort.
You chose healing again and again.

That is strength.

✨ Physical therapy represents:
💪 Hours of practice
💛 Patience with your body
🦿 Commitment to your independence
🌱 Belief in your future

This milestone deserves celebration.
Not because the journey is over—but because you’ve proven to yourself what you’re capable of.

Be proud.
You earned this.

💬 What part of your rehab journey are you most proud of?

I learned to ride a bike as a child after physical therapy, and now, as an adult, I have returned to it in a new, adaptive way, using a handcycle bike.

Sincerely, Nurse Coach Dulcey

🌿 What You Need to Know About Mental Health After Limb Loss

Limb loss affects more than your body—it can deeply impact your thoughts, emotions, and sense of identity. Struggling mentally after amputation is common, real, and valid.

You are not weak for feeling this way.
You are human—and you are adjusting to a major life change.

✨ Some mental health challenges that may follow limb loss include:
💛 Depression or sadness
🧠 Anxiety or fear about the future
💭 Body image struggles
😔 Grief and loss of identity
⚡ PTSD or trauma responses
🤍 Feeling isolated or misunderstood

These experiences don’t mean something is wrong with you.
They mean your mind is trying to heal—just like your body.

🌱 Helpful steps toward emotional wellness:
• Talk openly with someone you trust
• Seek professional support when needed
• Join a support group
• Practice self-compassion
• Give yourself time and grace

Healing is not just physical.
Your mental health deserves care, attention, and respect too.

💬 What has helped you take care of your emotional well-being on this journey?

I found community in my church that helped me through my limb loss.

Sincerely, Nurse Coach Dulcey
