A chance to honor our veterans!
Bob Groh recently had the priviledge of being an honored WWII Veteran on the Tri-State Honor Flight. After a very touching send off ceremony, He and about 150 other veterans were flown to Washington DC where they had an exciting but emotional day touring the war memorials. They were honored by tourists everywhere they went, and had a welcome home surprise celebration at the airport when they arrived back late that night. His grandson got to be his guardian for the day.
It was a time they'll never forget.

The Perseid meteor shower will be visible the next few nights around the area. It is looking like we will have good viewing conditions with generally clear skies and cool conditions for both tonight and tomorrow night. A new moon will also allow for darker skies and better viewing conditions. The best viewing times will be in the early morning before sunrise. Meteors should be visible without a telescope in locations away from city lights.

US Rowing Club at Harsha Lake this past weekend...

At the U.S. Rowing Club Nationals at Harsha Lake, we were very impressed by the young women from Penn AC, a rowing club out of Philadelphia. The team members go to schools around the country -- Drexel, Syracuse and Stanford -- but this summer they are in Philadelphia training. They competed in the U23 category (under 23), and came in third in the Intermediate Women's Quad. For them, the sport is all about the team, and pushing each other to be better.
