Words cannot fully express the sorrow I felt upon hearing of our Dear Friend and Fellow CERT supporter, Lynette Sorensen's husband's passing, especially knowing it occurred in the line of duty. His service and sacrifice for our country will never be forgotten. Please keep her and her family close in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

NOTICE!

We will not meet as a team tomorrow on our regular meeting night of the month. It is a state holiday and particupating in the parade last week was our team meeting for the month of July. We will be back to meet in August on the 4th Thursday, as usual. See you then!

Good times participating in the AF Steel Days Parade on Saturday! Thank you to all who participated.

CERT team members, steel Days is upon us! A couple of things:

1) Thursday the 17th at 6:30pm we will be meeting at AF Fire Statuon #52 at 960 E 1750 N to put together our give-away trinkets for the parade route. Please come and help!

2) We will be walking in the Steel Days Parade on Saturday the 19th. Exact details will be given out this week by the parade committe but this is what we have so far:

- meeting no later than 8 am at beginning of parade route. Exact address to come (approximately Main St. and 300 W) but please prepare to be there early and park a couple blocks from the start. Remember that some roads will be blocked off.

- everyone who hasn’t already signed release waivers will need to sign them that morning

- bring your family to walk in the parade, we would like a good showing of numbers, please.

- please were anything CERT, if you can: shirts, hats, safety vests, radios, and comfortable shoes.

- there will be a pull wagon with drinking water but bring your own, if you want.

- plan ahead for your own transportation from the parade end which will be at the high school parking lot.

Here's the signup for the Blanket Bulk Buy that we're doing this month. CERT team members receive a $3 per blanket discount if they pay cash. Sign up by following the link and put CERT Team in the Comments line. We'll have the CERT team orders at the March meeting on March 28th at 6:30 pm at the AF Fire Station.

You can pay at pickup using Venmo, Credit/Debit Card, or Cash.

If you signed up at the February team meeting, your name and qty should be on this list. Please double check it and let Nancy know if anything needs to be changed.

When a disaster strikes, the last thing you want to feel is helpless. In the American Fork Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), we prepare individuals to feel confident and capable in the event of an emergency. All are welcome to take our CERT training course designed to equip our community members with the knowledge and skills required to properly respond to any crisis. Team members will get hands on training in emergency first aid, fire safety, team operations and light search and rescue procedures.
Under the direction and sponsorship of the American Fork Fire Department, CERT members may be called upon to assist in disaster relief, lost-child searches, or community events. The American Fork CERT Team meets monthly on the 4th Thursday (Jan- Oct) at 6:30pm at the AF Fire Department on Center Street. Meetings provide training review, skills instruction, and team building. Additional self-paced training is available for all interested CERT members
