Helicopter Hoisting Accreditations
NAAMTA Global: Helicopter Hoist Accreditations
NAAMTA Global, known for its medical transport accreditation program, and Pegasus Aero Services, known for aviation consultation services have developed two accreditation programs for International Hoist Operators and US Part 133/135 Operators. Helicopter Hoist Accreditation and Hoist Medical Transport Accreditation apply worldwide standards for operations with a focus on quality and safety for hoist external load and hoist medical transport industry needs.
NAAMTA formed a development team engaging industry subject matter experts and professionals with industry expertise and a foundation of regulatory requirements, with authorities such as the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA), European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
This team conducted research and performed comprehensive interviews with international and domestic hoist operator team members including Hoist Pilots, Hoist Operators, Hoist/Rescue Technicians, Training Academy Directors, Pilots, Maintenance Directors, and Aviation Management personnel, to create comprehensive accreditation standards.
The standards facilitate operators to reach for and execute hoist operations at a higher level of service by validating their processes with those outlined in the NAAMTA Helicopter Hoist and Hoist Medical Transport Accreditation Standards.
Quality and Compliance
Measurable outcomes demonstrate quality and compliance. The accreditation standards promote a series of evaluated tasks, derived from an extensive review of best practices, which are followed by many operators and supported through training academies.
NAAMTA’s and Pegasus’ team of expert auditors, using ISO 9001:2015 auditing guidelines, perform an extensive audit on the applicant program’s documentation, employee interviews, on-site evaluations, and process reviews.
A series of reports, beginning with the audit of documentation through site audits, and closing the loop on any applicable corrective action items, are clearly outlined and shared with the organization.
Safety
Incorporation of the accreditation standards and subsequent audit evaluates the organization’s safety program to identify the safety culture, company participation, and helicopter-hoisting operations.
Safety is an all-encompassing umbrella to a successful operation. It is about moving forward to mitigate operational risks and developing a safety culture where everyone is involved.
Safety is as important to the organization as it is for those involved in the operation in the air, on the ground, in the water, or across various environments.
Professional Ex*****on
Professionally executed hoist operations require licensed and certified individuals who are continuously involved in training. A roadmap can be used to ensure that crewmember qualifications and proficiencies meet company requirements.
Engage Management
Management, as role models, must embrace a fair and well-executed safety culture. They are responsible for ensuring proper oversight through well-established safety and risk management programs, quality assurance, training, and internal auditing programs. Additionally, they must be actively involved in risk decisions to effectively allocate resources to reduce the risk, eliminate the hazard, and implement controls.
Awarding Accreditation and Continuous Compliance Programs
Awarding accreditation validates the organization’s exemplary adherence to industry best practices. It honors and recognizes the commitment and dedication of the organization.
NAAMTA’s accreditation program takes this one step further, the Continuous Compliance and Commitment Program, incorporates monthly, quarterly, and annual reports that demonstrate ongoing adherence to the standards, but moreover, continues the development of relationships built through the accreditation process.
