It's been a great summer in the community!

Amery Hospital & Clinic, HealthPartners and Little Moments Count teamed up with the Family Resource Center St. Croix Valley and local businesses, nonprofits and community members to host a free Walk, Roll & Read event in Osceola to support and educate families with young children.

Events were also held in New Richmond and River Falls. Kids enjoyed crafts, including rock painting and blowing bubbles. There was a story time, and each child got to take home four books.

“Whether it’s a book, a song or even just talking to kids during those daily tasks like making dinner or getting ready for bed – these moments create an extremely important baseline for a child’s growth and lifelong success,” says Kristin Mollan, a community manager at HealthPartners.

Little Moments Count is a local initiative helping parents and communities talk, read, play, and sing with children — early and often — to support lifelong health and well-being.

Are you ready to “turnip” the excitement when it comes to fresh fruits and vegetables?

Amery Hospital & Clinic values the role of fresh produce in children’s health. Our PowerUp team has been at the Amery Farmer’s Market on Mondays from 3 to 6 p.m. getting kids curious and excited about fruits and veggies through the Power of Produce Club, or PoP Club.

Each week, the team hands out tokens to kids ages 2 to 17. When kids and teens sign up for the club, they get $4 worth of tokens to pick out their choice of fruits and vegetables at the market. The club creates a positive interaction with food and showcases the vibrant flavors that come from fresh produce.

Our PowerUp team will be at the farmers’ market which is located at the Soo Line Pavilion at 11 Keller Ave North through Sept. 17.
