Rochelle Skaggs was born with amniotic band syndrome, which affected all four of her limbs. Despite the challenges that come with limb difference, she has never let it get in her way.
Growing up in the country, Rochelle always pushed herself to stay active. At just 11 months old, she was walking on her first prostheses. Throughout elementary and high school, she played basketball, volleyball, went rock climbing, and even ran track! 🏀🏐🧗♀️🏃
"I've always had a very positive outlook. My parents raised me to believe you can do whatever you want to," said Rochelle. "I've had the motto of 'tell me I can't do something, and I'll show you that I can.'"
After finishing college in construction management and working in Indiana, Rochelle moved to Chicago to work as a pre-construction manager and drone pilot. There, she started receiving care from prosthetists Tom O'Doherty, L/CP, and Tim Russo, L/CPO.
Rochelle has been working with Tom for nearly a decade, while Tim has helped her with her prosthetic arm. She is incredibly excited to continue her journey at the Hanger Clinic Integrated Care Center.
"I can come here and be myself. If I feel like climbing the wall, I can. The facility is designed to let you test your devices in a secure setting, which is huge," said Rochelle.
We're excited to be a part of your journey, Rochelle! 🧡
