Choice Medical is proudly locally owned and operated in Ames, Iowa. We pride ourselves on providing the best service to all of our customers!

Choice Medical, LLC was established in May of 2002 by Kevin Henning. With over thirty years of experience in the Durable Medical Industry, Kevin found a great opportunity to start his own business. After receiving his biomedical electronics degree (AAS), Henning started his career with Miller Medical Service in Waterloo. A few years later, Kevin came to Ames to pursue his electronic engineering degree at Iowa State University (BSEE). While a student, he worked part-time for Excel Medical (a former medical equipment business in Ames). With the departure of Excel Medical from the Ames market, an opportunity was realized for Kevin. Today, Choice Medical, LLC has received much support from the local medical clinics, doctors and many customers. All are pleased to see what we have to offer. With high quality service and products, Choice Medical is committed to providing independence and freedom to meet their customers' medical needs as a one-stop shop. Choice Medical completed their triennial survey for accreditation on November 19th, 2020. The survey was completed by HQAA and we received one of the highest scores ever given to a company! We pride ourselves on offering the best customer service and a wide variety of durable medical equipment. Choice Medical strives to continue providing the very best customer service to existing customers as well as new ones.

Choice Medical LLC has received a notice from United Healthcare Medicare Advantage Program and unfortunately, UHC is going to transfer their care in Iowa to Synapse Health.

As of April 1st, 2026 we will no longer be able to provide any services to anyone that has a United Healthcare Medicare Advantage Program.

Choice Medical LLC recommends contacting your insurance agent to see if you are able to change your policy if you want to continue to get supplies from us as your durable medical equipment provider.

Our team here at Choice Medical LLC will assist in any way we can to make this transition smoothly.
