We are so sad to announce that we have made the difficult decision to cancel Cyclone Family Weekend that was scheduled for September 18-20, 2020. This decision was made to best align with the university guidelines for physical distancing. We understand that this may be another item on a long list of things that have been canceled that you were looking forward to. We too are feeling sad and upset about not having the same kind of experience you imagined for Cyclone Family Weekend.

We have a great group of creative and eager students that are already thinking of ways to celebrate our families this fall virtually. Watch our social media for more information on how you can participate.

Just as a reminder, dress warm for Saturday as we will still be having the volleyball tailgate outside!

...FREEZE WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 possible.

* WHERE...Most of Iowa.

* WHEN...From Friday evening through Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...For Saturday morning... expected wind speeds of 10 to 20 mph will drop wind chill values to the mid teens to low 20s across much of Iowa... especially northern Iowa.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
