Smile! 🙂
Sometimes it may be difficult to smile in the face of adversity, hurt or troubles. This week, I encourage you to smile at those who cut you off, those who step on your toes or speak to you condescendingly. Why in the world would anyone want to do that you ask?

A Tidbit About Us

Dr. Bing Wall located his therapy office in Ames in 1998 and the business was called Heart to Heart Communication, LC. Shortly after he opened, Carol Caskey joined the practice and is still with him to this day. From the get-go, Dr. Bing’s primary focus was to help couples find what makes their marriage successful. Being personally (happily!) married over 40 years and getting his Ph.D. from Iowa State University, he has a plethora of outstanding advice to offer! In 2009 Dr. Bing started his Thriving Couples blog (https://thrivingcouples.com/bing-home-page/) and now there are over 400 of them there (You can click on our index for the list of topics). Many of our first-time clients have read a number of them prior to coming to their first appointment, because it gives them a way to get to know us ahead of time, the issues we encounter in our offices and how perspective clients might be able to relate to these common issues of modern society.

In January, 2019, Andy Bradley, a married father of a teenager and retired military vet, joined the practice. Dr. Bing is working with Andy on successful couple strategies, but Andy how shown success with working with teens. This expansion led to our decision to “rebrand” in order to have a name that encompassed our wider mission to help teens, individuals, couples and families. Therefore, we formally got a “DBA” (Doing Business As) designation from the Secretary of State to use Ames Counseling Center as our local name.

Heart to Heart Communication, LC is still the legal name which is why we still have two other offices called Heart to Heart Communication: Cedar Rapids Counseling Center, where Brandon Wall, one of Dr. Bing’s sons, manages a thriving therapy practice, and the Des Moines Counseling Center (also called Thriving Couples Counseling Center) located in Urbandale where both Andy and Dr. Bing see clients.

We also hired Andy’s wife, Joy, to the staff! She does a tremendous job with inquiries on the phone by being personable and uplifting, as well as warmly welcoming clients. She, Carol and Samona Garcia, our Intern who also started in January, 2019, are keeping our office running smoothly!
